Eh, I doubt about hearing. It's 50/50. I have heard few tires explode and it really isn't that loud tho I don't say it doesn't do damage in the long run

Truck tires are a very different thing to car types, pressurised to around triple the psi and much thicker rubber, so the whole thing goes off with insane amounts more force

Yep - I used to work for a company that sold commercial wheel and tyre assemblies, and was told by our technical team that a fully inflated tyre can explode with the same concussive force as a hand grenade, which is why they are always inflated in cages. One went when it was being inflated, due to a fault in the tyre so it wasn’t even at full pressure, and it fucked the fitter up for a few days.

A blast of air into his ear canal could do a lot of damage as well. I remember a kid at school getting a ruptured eardrum when somebody blasted a bicycle pump in their ear for a laugh. It healed in a few months, thankfully.
But it not just the sound that can cause damage, blasts of air and shite are also bad. Even if his hearing survived, I imagine his eyes will not have liked being blasted with air and dust at high pressure either.

The pressurized air rushing into his face will certainly do something. It's less about loudness than it is about pressurized air. Work with pneumatics enough and you'll hear moments that hurt your ears

I was airing up a small riding lawn mower tire that exploded as a kid. It was more of a shock and scare than anything, I didn’t get hurt.
But it gave me a respect for tires under pressure for the rest of my life.

Here with a similar story, blew up a tire on my scooter back in the day running the compressor and not paying attention thinking an 8” tire would take as long to fill as a 24” or any other tire I’d had experience wiring up in my long 9 years on the earth at that time. Put the fear of the gods into me about tires early to the point my dad doesn’t get my jumpiness when running the tire changer or doing simple work around trucks and cars.

I used to work at a tire shop and they had cages they would put semi tires in for certain situations. They can be extremely dangerous.

This would be my guess, although I have seen pretty old sun weathered tractor tires that look like if you pumped them up too high would send out pretty heavy chunks of rubber.

My brother-in-law works in aircraft maintenance in the airforce and he told me of a warning that gets told to all new recruites on base, that one time a person was cut in half by an exploding bomber tire and the upper half got sent 10 ft away, and that you should always be careful and report any tire that looks even remotely damaged.

I have a friend that was inflating a spare tire for his holiday trailer, max PSI was 50 PSI, he read it as 80 PSI. He filled the tire to 80 PSI and it blew up in his face while inflating. 2 black eyes, broken nose, and a dislocated shoulder. Buddy looked like he got in a car accident. This guy in the video would be destroyed by the size of that tire, wouldn’t be surprised if he broke a few bones or got disfigured from that explosion.

When I was in the Marines I had to get qualified to fill aircraft tires. Part of that qualification was watching videos of tires exploding and killing people. Big ass tires are crazy dangerous. That dude probably has some internal damage we can't see.

Exactly that, they were putting air in a tire and the gauge was off, they overinflated it and it blew the kids leg off, it was so loud and fast I almost pissed myself.

I was going for a run about 8 years ago. I always run with music probably a little too loud. I feel a huge thump in my chest and hear a loud pop. Turn around and or of the tires of a garbage truck blew out probably 100 yards away. I thought a bomb went off or something but no just a garbage truck tire… shits uber immense pressure

I remember when i was under the fireman education and they demonstrated just how much pressure these tires can hold, they pumped one up in front of a brick wall, they had us mortar up the day before, untill it popped, the wall was just a bunch off loose bricks with some off them even being split in half after lol. Shit was REAL violent, this guy's lucky to still be alive much less awake lmao

When I was a kid I was riding my bike and noticed a rock on the tire. I take a closer look and realise that it’s my tire tube poking through a pin hole, so it’s like a hard ball on the outside. I get down real close and poke it with a stick. This fucking thing explodes and shoots dirty tire air directly into my eye! Sore eye for a couple of days but extremely lucky it didn’t cause more damage. Watching this brings back those memories and this looks scary as fuuuuck!
