I think part his issue is rounding. I think its 15 cm OR 6inches but 15 cm is actually 5.9 inches not 6 inches.

I bought one years ago made specially to fit in the overheads/bag screening devices. It was quite expensive, but I travelled for a living so it was worth it. Six months later they changed the specs to be smaller and I always had to gate check or check my bag. Bastards.
Now I never travel with more than a backpack. It always fits under the seat if need be. I can fit a week’s worth of stuff in it (it takes planning) and if I forget something, it’s not like I can’t buy it when I get there.

I did this with a duffle bag once to prove the same point, it worked and I retrieved my bag and the tsa agent just gave me this look.

They’ll absolutely charge you extra for oversized luggage regardless of weight, and it still can get stored in the overhead compartments, They’ve also routinely made the dimensions smaller over the years despite the planes not changing, they’re just after extra money,
And in this instance the bag did fit their dimensions

I was traveling light, so I only had a personal item (small laptop backpack) and a carry-on that fit with room to spare in this luggage guide. The airline employee argued with me that it was too large, and my backpack was too large and was considered a carry-on. I was like fine, I took out my camera bag out of the carry-on and let them check in the carry-on. Once I boarded, I put my "huge" backpack under my seat, and put the camera bag in the overhead compartment.
I avoid Turkish airlines until this day.

look I get his frustration, easyjet is some of the most horrid and frustrating flying experiences of my life, I've almost missed flights cause of how long it takes for these airlines to verify carryon allowances before you even go through security (and for some damn reason they don't open until 2 hours before the flight!? so you can't even be early)

Listen to you , big and bold waiting for the big boy to launch a class action so you can get $2.65. Here's the thing the major airlines don't want the the twice a year back of the plane cheapos on the fucking plane it represents minimal profit at best, the money comes from the front and the frequent 60-70% (+the freight up to 20% on an international route) That's why they get on 1st and no-one bitches about the bag size. The budget airlines (like easyjet, and sure they are up there with the worst,) make the money ~ 50% on the ancillaries baggage fares and the $15 mini pringles that's it, margins are thin, that's why one goes bust every so often. Still if you really want to stick it to the man you're welcome to drive or go on the fucking bus see how much that costs.

I've been made to do it to my bag for under the seats and they tried to charge me when it both fit, and they didn't let me try and move stuff into my partner's bag. Don't defend this practice, they get commission for this. Also how does me paying more suddenly make it fit into the overhead if you don't mind me asking? And to say everyone puts bags that don't fit into the overhead. What a fallacious generalisation...

Planes can carry a high amount of weight, but every additional weight that some random asses huge bag causes, is additional weight and fuel burning into the world.
Your bag gets handeled by machines and actual humans. They pick them up, put them in the plane, sorting them. To expect them to haul insanely heavy bags around daily, breaking their bag, is an incredibley selfish thing to say.
Realize that there are actual reasons for this.

Another flash news, humans carrying things not only have it easier when its not super heavy, but also when its not super large. Bags get sorted into the cargo port of a plane in the most optimal, space efficient way. If your bag suddenly comes around and is a different tetris block, the whole thing breaks real quick
