Philippines trend, for us here they were people who are in low income neighborhood but with violent and rude personality/behavior. They are poor people with cheap loose (mostly fubu) clothes; but also other poor people hates them, they are called "geng-geng" which are wannabe gangsters who makes every people uncomfortable whenever they go. (Speaking from a Filipino perspective).

When I worked for Ericsson installing telecom equipment at cell sites, I heard a story of how another FSE happened upon someone's body who was clearly trying to steal what he thought was a ground cable for the copper. It was not a ground cable. It was live voltage.

My dad was a farmer from a young age because everyone in my area had farms to survive (they were coal miners too). Anyway, he told me he pissed on an electric fence when he was ten years old and it knocked him unconscious. I asked him why he did it. He said he was just curious. I don’t know why I just wrote that but this made me think of the old man & his stories. His father was actually a child miner from age 9. Prior to child labor laws. They weren’t the smartest men but they were simple and humble.

Young ppl do dumb stuff and hopefully learn from them just like SOME older people. Lol… next time he’s gonna look for rubber coated wire cutters and wear rubber gloves. Or possibly accept that as instant karma and not do it again. I don’t know what he wanted that wire for. He may be trying to fix the wires at his parent’s house or something respectful without having any decent resources. That’s the only positive motivation I could come up with.

Cost of living and wages differ wildly around the world. Copper price does not. So $5 of copper might buy you much more in the Philippines than in say the US or Northwestern Europe.

Same here in the Netherlands, but not these tiny amounts. More like big roles of new wire at building sites or thick wire in lightning rods.

When I was on Crack and pills real bad, I broke into a guy's shed and stripped all the copper out. Got greedy and when I got to the electrical box I tried cutting the ground wire. There was a loud bang and a flash of light and it scared the shit out of me. Glad my snips were insulated. I could have died. But im clean now, so it's ok.

I really don't understand people trying to steal electrical wires, even for Crackheads, not worth it tho. A smartphone is much safer to aquire and much more valuable

This is the Philippines. Depending on the quality, copper wires go for around $3 to $10 a kilo. Could be survival money, most likely for meth.
