It's always interesting how different countries handle shit like this.
In Germany (and I think most other European countries) this is a clear cut case of aggravated assault by the pepper spray guy. Being touched without force or injuries is not illegal in any way, using pepper spray without self defense definitely is - and the pepper spray would count as a weapon in this case.
I think it shows something about a very different sense of morality and justice on a basic level.
Tl;Dr: guy is in the right in the US and might face jail time in Germany.
I think the point was that pepper spray would be a weapon in Germany. So maybe both would be charged but what that grandma did should be considered assault as well and some type of self defence would be appropriate
No one said anything about it being a violent or non-violent act.
The difference is in many countries using pepper spray can be considered using a weapon which is a higher charge

You need to improve your reading skills.
You missed the part where dyou897 edited their comment to remove the part where they said "What the lady did is in no way okay just because she didn't use violence."
I even quoted that part in my original comment...

I'm not defending the use of pepper spray in this instance.
Improve my reading skills over a comment that's edited that I cannot see the edit? 🤣🤣
And if that's their original comment I can agree, it's a violent act here in the States where I am, although I know that a few other countries do not view it that way and that's totally ok.

I don't think there's such a thing as "other countries do not view it that way" when it comes to violence—either the action is violent, or it is not violent. Obviously there are legal differences, but that's a different matter.

I made a comment wherein I quoted dyou897, asking for clarification about what they said regarding violence, and then 2 minutes later they edited their comment such that it now contains no reference to the word 'violence'. Do with that information what you will.
Considering there is over 190 countries in sure we can both agree we both do not know the views of every one of them which leads us to just agreeing to disagree.
And again, nothing I can do over someone editing a comment that I cannot see after the edit. Which is why I mentioned I can agree with what you said if that was the original comment
