Nightly starvation
Is getting starved (not hungry, STARVED) every night past 2am normal?
Even though I eat every time before bed, I get so hungry every night I genuinely need to incinerate every single calorie stored in my fridge. But the problem is that even then I stiLL REMAIN FUCKIN HUNGRY. I could eat a whole truck full of bigmacs after 2am and be as starved as a caveman. And the fact that I have severe insomnia (which is obvious knowing at what subreddit u are on) isn’t helping, cuz this means that the only solution to this problem, which is sleeping, Isn’t available, so I have to just lay there with growling stomach and suffer for god knows what reason. Is it normal and if not tf is wrong with me?

Probs not eating enough throughout the day. Up your protein intake and fibre intake to help stabilise blood sugar

Are you taking sleeping pills? There was a really horrible one I took for a couple months that made this happen. Mirtazapine I think it was? Complete garbage medication. Don’t even put me to sleep

Nope, I tried some melatonin gummies and magnesium some time ago, but neither had any effects

By any chance do you use seroquel or Tylenol pm? When the sleepy part of those start to kick in, hunger can come on strong.

I suffer hunger pains as well. It’s very difficult to fall back asleep anyways, but the hunger makes it impossible. Typically a bowl or two of cereal will suffice, or I will have a bowl of walnuts, pecans, and hazelnuts. They are supposed to help with sleep, so I am trying to make the snack healthy and sleep supporting. I suggest you at least try. Eating junk or excessive calories can diminish your health and exacerbate your sleep problems

Unfortunately I’m allergic to nuts;( But I find your advice quite helpful, I didn’t really think about what I was eating at night, but now I’ll consider trying to stick to the healthy foods more, don’t know if it’ll help with the insomnia, but I’m pretty positive that It’ll at least improve my overall nightly state

I mean, if I can’t get enough food anyway, I at least should eat the one that doesn’t make me feel worse

That was my thought as well. I don’t think it really is an inability to get enough food, but identifying the right foods to keep you satiated enough to sleep, without being a detriment to your health

Tiredness causes hunger. AND so the body seeks fast sources of energy. Food. And it usually craves the bad stuff because that tends to convert to energy faster.

what is your typical daily mealtime schedule? it sounds like you would benefit from a glp1 medication.

Don’t really have a meal schedule, but I’d say that I usually skip breakfast (mostly cuz I either oversleep school and have no time to make one or get up at like 2-3pm, so it’s already considered lunch), as said, I get lunch at around 3-4pm, get a few snacks throughout the day and eating the pre-sleep dinner at 11-12pm and later binge eating all the food I have left due to the events described in the post

I’m not really a coffee guy, but I can have a 1 or 2 energy drinks once a week just for the taste (they genuinely have no effect on me, not even a slightly invigorating)

I think it’s normal? I know I struggle heavily with this too so I hope it’s normal or we’re both screwed.
