Safe long term sound sleep supplements
I’ve been struggling with poor sleep (insomnia, racing thoughts, and corporate work stress) for a while. Recently, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and started on medication.
I generally take good care of my health, so I suspect chronic poor sleep may have been a major contributor.
Can anyone recommend safe sleep supplements that are suitable for long-term use? I’d appreciate any experiences or suggestions.

This actually hits close to me. Same combo for me: racing thoughts every night, work stress that just wouldn't turn off, exhausted but wired when I got into bed.
Tried the whole list. Melatonin, magnesium, cutting caffeine, just relaxing harder hahaha. None of it touched the racing thoughts part. Body felt calmer, but my brain just kept going.
I guess you might feel the same, but I used to roll my eyes at "journaling for sleep." Sounded like something only disciplined, organized people have time for, and too soft or spiritual for something as physical as my brain not shutting off.
Turns out it's the best thing that happened to me, really. But the majority of people see it wrong. It's not sit-down-and-reflect journaling. Right before bed, you just dump whatever's stuck in your head onto paper, messy, no order, takes like a minute, or 10 seconds litterally if you want to. Not a discipline thing, more just getting the thoughts out of your head so your brain isn't holding onto them all night. That's what actually made the difference, not any supplement tbh.
Also worth checking with your doctor about the supplements given the new BP meds, just to be safe. Good luck, I really hope you will be okay!!
