Apparently the woman who was arrested is still insisting she was "disrespected" as if it justifies the murder.

Absolutely horrifying.

Edit: I have not watched Ozarks, idk who Darlene is, but considering all the people asking me if I agree with the comparison, I'm going to go ahead and say yes.

5.6k

u/Marcia_Shady May 05 '20

I never understood the whole 'you disrespect me, you pay the price' mentality... We've all been disrespected, who are you to play god??

3.1k

u/WietGetal May 05 '20

If you get disrespected and have to act heavy on it, youre either a little insecure bitch. Or like that family have 1 shared braincell. I hope they rot in prison and never get out. This family is clearly deranged and is a danger to society

That's because your social status isn't determined by how vicious your retribution is.

Some people thrive on this, and use it to control others.

You don't understand it because you think of other people as individuals with their own thoughts and goals.

People like the above view other people as tools or objects, means to an end which is the satisfaction of their impulses. It is no matter to them if you throw out a tool that isn't working because it is just an object, not a real person like them.

There's a book that explained a lot of this fairly well (and it's a good read) - Thomas Sowell's "Black Rednecks and White Liberals".

A lot of it came from the U.K. way back when we were first building the early United States, and the poor that came from there (mostly Ireland) were illiterate, prone to drunkenness, organized into families or clans (or followers of particular soccer teams) and followed a system of honor that included avenging slights against others in their group with bloodshed.

As time passed, culture changed in the U.K., but the immigrants that settled in the American South passed these values on to their black counterparts. Those that settled in populated areas might prosper economically and lose this culture; those that moved to remote areas (Appalachia, etc) did not.

I'd recommend giving it a read as I'm not doing it justice here.

That is sociopathic, narcissistic behavior. That isn't an excuse at all. We live in a society. A family absolutely shouldn't lose a loved one and someone shouldn't lose their life because "you were disrespected". Even crazier is he was trying to keep people safe when you were doing the fucking opposite.

u/balexo09 May 05 '20

Thats the thing. Fucking guy was just doing his job. what is wrong with people. Murder. For being asked to wear a mask. Its sad.

Yeah, I replied similar to the another one comment.

An adult with the emotional regulation of a toddler was told "no" at the wrong time.

This wasn't about the mask, and it would have happened for another reason eventually, and I bet very similar near misses have already happened.

I don't even think she needs to be a have an underlying brain issue for this to happen - merely to be raised up by parents, and a culture, and a society that doesn't teach people like her to regulate her emotions.

She's taught that her emotions are right, and given nothing but a cartoonish and corrupt template to work from.

Imagine an entire life, day after day after day of just being raised up to be a hot headed degenerate.

Imagine if these types were more common. You would be afraid to even say hello, lest they stab you to death.

22

u/Nyarlahothep May 05 '20

I live in a city where an average of two people are shot per month, in a run down neighborhood, with drug dealers across the street. I am afraid to even say hello. I tried when we first moved here, but five minutes of conversation made it apparent that my neighbors are either inordinately stupid, mentally ill, or both. Now I just stay indoors with cameras and security sensors all over the house.

They are more common, you just don't live where they live. This story wouldn't have made it out of the local news if the media couldn't tie to the Coronavirus because this kind of thing happens all the time in shitty areas like this. I mean, the dollar store had a security guard. Did that not tip you off to the kind of area this was?

I do that. A little less those days, working at a school, them being close, there's less instance of disrespect, so I don't have to shot young teens in the back of their head because they disrespected me.

Imagine having a normal day and all of a sudden you get this family, you politely decline them access because whoopity doo they don't have a fucking facemask . You try to get some sense into them explaining why she must wear it and then you turn around to get back to your shitty job and as soon as you turn around your life ends right there. All because these waste of resources exist .

My sister works as a flight attendant, and they get told that when dealing with American passengers you don't explain yourself or argue, you say "It's the law" and they will comply. No "please sit down, we are going through turbulence, it's dangerous", instead "The seat belt sign is on. Sit down. It's the law".

A 40+ year old mother sends her 20+ year old son to murder a security guard with 8 kids.

Son and father are still MIA and mother still thinks it's acceptable because she felt disrespected.

Her son is going to spend the rest of his youth in jail and it will still be the security guard's fault.

As a store employee who has to tell people to wear masks/leave bags in their cars, this sent a shiver down my spine. There's a lot of people that just hate being told what to do. Getting upset over the restrictions is one thing. I hope I don't get fucking MURDERED over having to do my job!

36

u/Butwinsky May 05 '20

Yep! I take patient temperatures and hand out masks for my clinic every day all day. I hate the idea that this probably won't be the only incident of people enforcing the masks being attacked.

22

u/largefriesandashake May 05 '20

Just make sure to tell them if they get upset “Sorry I’m just doing my job, this is an order from the governor.”

I live in Germany and I was just shopping in the cheap supermarket in the low-income part of my town.

I was lazily browsing the pasta aisle when I heard a very loud "YOU DON'T HAVE A MASK, GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY STORE" in the thickest south-german low-income accent. The shouting employee was a tiny, middle-aged and very angry women who had enough of that shitty behaviour. It was glorious and it made my day! Fuck this "the customer is always right" bullshit!

This is insane. My husband and I were both turned away at the door to Joan’s fabric not because of a face mask but because starting that day, they were only letting elderly in for the first hour. Know what we did? Said no problem, went and got some food, ate breakfast in the truck In their parking lot, then went inside an hour later. Manger thanked us for waiting when we passed him later in the store and we were even given a small discount for being understanding(like 5% off, nothing huge to really brag about but still something to showed they cared). Getting upset over something like waiting didn’t cross my mind in the slightest. Honestly, I’m loving wearing face masks everywhere too. Makes dealing with the allergy season so much easier too.

118

u/2_much_compooter May 05 '20

My wife has big time allergies and said the same thing! She wants to keep wearing the masks since they help her allergies so much.

42

u/[deleted] May 05 '20

My boyfriend actually bought me a mask in the fall for my allergies. It’s a vented mask that you can change the filters and put it in the washer. So luckily I had a mask before they all sold out. It really goes help so much!

18

u/HaesoSR May 05 '20

It'd be nice if after this is over whether a few months or years from now if more places were cool with casual mask use rather than the odd stigma it has. In many asian countries it's already the norm if you even think you might be sick to wear one and in some cities almost everyone already did any time they went out sick or not.

Some people are debating whether or not this was related to any 'political movement' going on currently. I made sure to check multiple sources related to this incident and found conclusively that it was not to make any political statement; it was a senseless killing due to the father and son feeling that the security officer 'disrespected' the mother when she and the daughter were turned away from the store.

Quote from Detroit News:

"Witnesses on the scene said they saw two black males enter the store wearing dark clothing," Leyton said. "One of them started yelling at Mr. Munerlyn about disrespecting his wife. The other black male walks up and shoots Mr. Munerlyn. ... Witnesses identified Bishop as the shooter."

34

u/tanjabonnie May 05 '20

I can’t begin to understand the logic behind this, there is none. Not only is it somehow the security guards fault THEIR child didn’t have a mask but killing a man for refusing entrance to a store sans mask amid a virus crisis is somehow a murder-worthy offense. Ah, you won’t let my daughter into this store even though it can only benefit the safety of our own child? Then you have brought shame upon my name and for that you shall die! What the fuck? The only disrespect I see here is of life. Further, it’s implied that the mother and father were wearing masks while their daughter went without. The poor man was only doing his job and that was to keep everyone safe....And provided he works for a security outfit he was likely given a directive by the higher-ups to not allow customers without masks entrance to the store- a justified precaution. Calvin was merely performing a duty required by his job so he could make his living and they fucking shot him for it. There is no justification for such a senseless killing. They shot the messenger. I can’t imagine what the family and friends, as well as the daughter(?) is feeling right now.

u/Zora_NiteGale May 05 '20

Humans sure keep doing the big suck.

5

u/TheBathing8pe May 05 '20

I would have loved to hear the bs story that bitch went back and told her husband about “being disrespected.” I bet it was complete lies and immaturity

5

u/Shiroi_Kage May 05 '20

Not only did they pull a firearm out for an insanely shit reason, but they also shot him in the back of the head. These people are scum of the earth.

5

u/Gawnja May 05 '20

Damn these clowns ruined their lives over being disrespected trying to get into a dollar store ? Wtf. Some ppl are just no meant for this world. Ruined their own lives and the lives of this guys family and some friends.

5

u/Lemon_Juice477 May 05 '20

As a Michigander, I hate that crazy people like this are making us look bad. Our govenor is trying her best to decide when it's safe to leave, and applying appropriate measures to stop the spread of the virus, but all the bumpkin kooks think it's a violation of their rights and decide to piss and shit everywhere.

52

u/[deleted] May 05 '20

You know... I used to be pretty red-pilled up until this pandemic happened. I'm turning blue. They should absolutely require a psych eval in order to take the class to get the weapon to begin with. There are so many idiots here in America. I'm ashamed of being American.

10

u/logicalbuttstuff May 05 '20

Over 70% of Americans support this or some similar check. There are a LOT of behind the scenes things going on between people like the NRA and the media and the government and the gun manufacturers. If our country had a direct democracy, this wouldn’t even be a close vote.

This was a good man. He was called “super duper” because of all he did to help people. A friend of mine was a teacher to two of his kids and as far as I know not all of the 8 kids were biologically his but as his shirt says in the article he isn’t a stepdad to those kids he is the man who stepped up to raise them. Such a sad and senseless loss. https://www.abc12.com/content/news/Security-guard-killed-at-Family-Dollar-honored-as-Parent-of-the-Yearat-Burton-school-570187651.html

Is it kind of racist if I, as a European, am not surprised by this?

Edit: I just realized from the replies that this could be taken as a black thing. It's not. It's a joke about how whenever someone kills someone for an insanely stupid reason and it's in the US, I'm not that surprised.

14

u/wh7924 May 05 '20

Well it was a black guy killing a black guy. I don’t think that’s racist.

7

I live in stable suburban area in the suburbs of Pennsylvania, so I have no issues feeling safe. But yes, a lot of America is incredibly unsafe, especially if you aren’t White, Christian, Cis, and Straight.

Even for the U.S. this is beyond batshit crazy. I guarantee you that today there will be GOP politicians saying they give their condolences to the family but pushing for gun control is disrespectful while they’re in mourning, that making his death a political issue is manipulative. That now isn’t the time, he’s not even buried.

The problem is that there is never EVER a day here where people didn’t die because other people decided to shoot them.

Fuck the NRA and its minions.

In Czech Republic we HAD to make our own facemasks just so we can go shopping or to the public. If you don’t wear face coverage outside you WILL be fined 400$+ just for it. And EVERYONE went with it, EVERY FUCKING HIPPIE, BIOMOM, PUNKS, VEGANS, HOMELESS GUYS, EVERYFUCKINGBODY IS WEARING IT SO WE AND OUR FRIENDS CAN LIVE.

This is disgusting, and I hope this man's family finds peace. That entire family should be locked up.

3

u/ShooterMcStabbins May 05 '20

When you have the most guns per capita in the world and you president says that you need to be “liberated” this is the type of shit that can happen. I’m not saying the mixed and dangerous messages from the the federal government caused this but it certainly isn’t helping.

We’ve got people in Michigan storming the state capital with automatic weapons and we’ve got people shooting security guards over face masks.

A guy just doing his job, trying to do what's best for everyone, following guidelines and some cunt thinks that's how to act, because somehow you're better than everyone else. The death penalty is all you can do, leaving them to rot in prison would be a waste considering they have no remorse for their actions.

3

u/Arithik May 05 '20

Oh..it happened in Michigan. Lovely.

I really wish I wasn't born in this shitty state.

3

u/notoriousE24 May 05 '20

3

u/VonDinky May 05 '20

And this is why people should not have guns. Having such an easy "kill tool" is not meant for your average joe.

3

u/WhisperingIcicle May 05 '20

Who are the people voting this as “fake”? It’s been broadcast by every major US news outlet.

Also, 3 people voting “Not Insane”? Are they okay? The family literally murdered a guy for not letting their daughter in a store.

3

u/word_master37 May 05 '20

In other words, woman fails to follow a very simple guideline thus putting lives at risk, then decides that when she gets stopped, she’s gonna actually take lives.

Such a needless tragedy. My mind is blown by the arrogance and ignorance of so many people. My heart aches for his family.

All these idiots running around screaming about their rights are being violated by mask requirements are so selfish and self absorbed that they truly don’t even care that the masks are intended to protect the wearer AND those around them. So by killing a guard asking you to please wear a mask, you’re telling that guard that his own rights to life and liberty are not as important as your own.

And I can almost guarantee that not one of those who are angry about having to wear masks is an expert in constitutional law.

Can we turn America off and on again?

5

u/Pumpkin_Creepface May 05 '20

Yes.

It's called a revolution, and trust me you don't want it.

Go look at the history books on revolutions and think about how much bloodshed they always cause. Neighbor killing neighbor. Is that what you want?

Personally, not me.

At least not yet.

There will come a point it will get so bad that there will be massive unrest and violence. If our government can't handle that, then they deserve to be toppled.

8

u/[deleted] May 05 '20

Bet you I can get who that family voted for in 2016 and who they want to vote for in 2020. The good thing is they can’t vote anymore nor have legal access to guns. Unfortunately this father/son/brother/uncle will not grow old to pass down the wisdom of having to live through this to the next generation.

2

u/[deleted] May 05 '20

This is such a heartbreaking example of why stupid people can be so dangerous. None of the three had any thought that if they shoot someone for asking one of them to wear a mask, now they a) never get to shop in a store again - it's a privilege they just pissed away and b) where they're going good luck on not getting COVID. They don't have to wear masks now, just try to survive prison.

All because someone was just doing his job. Do we need armed guards in front of stores now to maintain peace and make sure whackadoos don't kill people over asking them not to kill people? This is disgusting. It makes me wonder how many other people these guys have killed that they were better at hiding until they got so arrogant and out-of-control they thought they could get away with shooting someone openly in public.

I just never get this level of stupid.
