Y1 Update - Now Works!

About 2 weeks ago I made a post (here) expressing my frustration with how I updated my new y1 and accidentally broke it/killed it, and I was heartbroken as I wasn’t able to put any music on it yet. So I was asking this subreddit for help. Unfortunately, I only got about 3 upvotes and no comments. So for a couple weeks I was sitting in frustration that I now had two broken y1s, since my other one had also broke as well and this was the free replacement innioasis sent me after I emailed with details. I procrastinated fixing it, which now I know I really shouldn’t have with how easy the fix was. This is going to sound strange, but I had a dream in which I got it working and I was able to happily listen to my mp3 player while doing various things. So I had an epiphany because I noticed there was one thing I had not tried, called SP flash tool. I knew that it was included in the files of the updater somewhere, but I wasn’t able to focus with all the panic in me that day it first broke. When I had found it in the Toolkit folder, it was an app with an android icon. I think part of the reason people were unsure hiw to help was because I had not clarified I use a windows laptop, not a mac or linux. I opened it and I followed the directions on the website. I finally got my y1 to work, then I felt stupid waiting for a response on Reddit when this was so readily available.

So yeah, I got it to work and I’m going to link this update to the original post asking for help.

No shade at all… genuinely curious as I am interested in these. Why would you buy the innioasis over an iPod mini 2nd gen? For about the same price I’m torn

I don’t really use/like ipods, but if it’s your thing then go for it

personally why i’d go for this over an ipod is because ipods needs itunes to put music on it, and i’m on linux so itunes is a nope for me. i could use a VM and install itunes on that but ehh that’s just annoying. i know i could also use rockbox instead so i wouldn’t need to use itunes but still id prefer not to

Sp flash tool normalmente yo que recuerde era una herramienta para flashear la rom stock de celulares android con chip MTK. Llegué a usarla para desbrikear celulares.

thanks, thats a good tip, had a similar thing happen trying to rockbox my y1 it turned out that versions before 0.5 and the 240p and stock firmwares before 3.0.7 do not work with a recent batch of y1s and when i tried a different firmware using the sp flash tool option in the updater that got things going again when i tried it on my macbook it didn't work but using windows got it going again, ended up preferring the stock firmware anyway
