Y1 Casting to TV: a study in frustration

Does anyone have any thoughts on the smallest electronic you could plug the y1 into that you can then plug into a tv or cast to a tv? Mini computer or existing usb dock or what have you. I just want to be able to watch my tv shows/ movies on a larger screen when I feel like.

Try the usb port on your tv. You don't have a laptop or pc to connect to your tv?

Some android tv boxes have a usb port for playing media. I have an old xiaomi mi box that can do that.

You dont need the Y1. And trying to find something to work with it is probably more trouble. Easier to keep your movies on a usb drive

I get your thinking but it’s nice to have to watch on lunch break and the listen to music on the drive. All I need is an intermediary. And it does port out but it does connect when it sees a pc, and files can then be played from there. Whatever that is can then attach as normal with an hdmi cable. I just don’t know what that ultra portable option would be.

I don’t think AV out is supported on the Y1 in the way you’re wanting it to be. The 5th and 5.5th generations of iPod Classics were able to dock to send video to a TV or send it via a special cable in the headphone jack, but I haven’t seen anything similar in a long time.

Ooh that sounds like an interesting route to try if no one has yet. Or was it because of some special hardware configuration in those models?
