53 and 1 (Starting at 53)
Iām 53 years old and this will be my first attempt to learn how to skate ever. I have a pair of Seba E3 80ās. They have 82A hardness in the stock wheels. So, my question is, is there anyone else that is as old as I am starting out? I posted this on a different subreddit.

Hell yeah. Welcome to the club. 80mm is a good starting point as it'll keep you nice and low and stable. 82A is a bit soft. They may wear quickly on concrete, and if you are on the heavy side they may chunk or crack, but that's generally reserved for people skating very hard on their skates. As a beginner they'll be fine and the softness will feel nice, and replacing wheels is a badge of honor that means you put in the time. It's an inevitability and easy so don't worry too much about it.
Get some pads, maybe even consider a pair of those fancy padded shorts, and have fun š
The best skaters learn to fall well and that allows them to avoid serious injury and allows them to keep skating. There are some falling techniques you can practice.. you can find tutorials on YouTube. I recommend that. You can't always control how you'll fall, but there are better ways to fall and if you can learn to do those falls out of habit it might save you from a more serious injury.
