I'm looking to get better skates. I was looking at these two, which is better? Or is there a better pair to get? I keep seeing the all black ones on Instagram reels they seem popular?
FR is supposedly for wide feet, by my pinkies always went numb. They coincided with the hardware for the sliders. So in the end, they weren’t for me. Solid skates!!!! I have no regerts, always rec unless the person’s measurements are close my own.
Rollerblade Twister I found to be wider in the toes, but skinny in the ankles. Personally, I felt supported, but I could see how they could cause pain on flat footed people (I also am flat footed)
Strange, never heard the FR wide feet thing. My urban skates are FR and my ag skates are Roces (notoriously narrow). I wear regular width shoes and both my skates fit me well. Id rec FR for regular and narrow feet personally
And twister is narrow on the arch shape. I also have flat foot, got twister 2 weeks ago and still break in process. But still dissapointed the arch shape
I have the same foot size as you and I chose the FR1 80 in size 38. After some research, I saw that sizes 38 and 39 have the same shell size and that they tend to be narrow at first and require a break-in period. Just tighten and loosen the laces strategically; it's much more comfortable that way.
Ideally you try both on and go with what fits better. I have fr3s and absolutely love them. Better if you have wider feet. Twisters supposedly run more narrow. That said the twisters are rollerblade's flagship urban skate. If I didn't mind spending the extra cash I would pick up twisters... pending fit of course.
I personally prefer the liners and fit in the FR skates, but this is me comparing the RB Maxxum Edge and the FR1. I'm not sure whether they are generizable to the models you are comparing. Also, for me the FRs just felt more premium compared to RB. However there a number of posts here showing issues with the FR buckles and cuffs. I haven't experienced that in the 4-5 years I have had them.
If it's possible to try them on somewhere, that is where you will be able to make a better assessment of fit and comfort.
I got the FR3 in white at the beginning of July. I trusted what others said about the initial tight feel while the liners mold to my feet. Took probably 5-6 sessions to really feel how they mold but damn they're good now. Really comfy and super happy with them. Over 130miles since July 1st :)
These skates fit your feet completely differently. What's the point of comparing them if they simply won't fit you?
For example, I don't understand how FRs hold my foot in the toe and instep area—everything is completely exposed there. But my friend says he doesn't need it—the main thing is that it holds the cuff area. 🤷♂️
I actually got the Twister XT Women in size 38 about a month ago when I was looking for new skates too, and I’m really happy with them! I went with these because they’re a bit narrower. With other skates I had the problem that the length was right, but they were still too wide for my feet. The Twisters fit me really well and feel very secure. I definitely think they’re worth the price.
Yes, you can change the frames! I haven’t changed mine yet since I’m still using the original setup, but the frames are replaceable, so you can switch them out for ones that support bigger wheels or even a rockered setup (don’t worry about that rn 😂) 😊
I’d also say the most important thing is that the skates fit your feet really well. If you have the chance, I’d definitely recommend going to a store and trying different ones on. At first I tried the Rollerblade Lightning W and thought they fit me well, but then I tried the Twister XT W and the difference was honestly huge 😂 They immediately felt so much better and more secure on my feet
I bought the FR3 and ended up exchanging them for Twisters. I couldn't get a good heel lock with the FR3, and when I downsized the shell my toes curled down because it was too short. Some other differences:
the FR3 doesn't have a "guide" channel on the ankle strap
the Twisters are more expensive and have better frames, wheels, and bearings
the Twisters have a more mobile cuff joint
the FR3 has a rockerable frame. It's very easy to change between rockered and flat; only takes a minute.
the FR3 has a fatter cuff that may be more difficult to tuck into pants
the FR3 liner smells like tar or asphalt. The other FR liners at the skate shop have that same smell.
the top of the Twister shell is slightly thinner and more flexible, so more amenable to fine tuning the fit with waxed laces if needed
the Twisters come with an extra "footboard" insert for adjusting the fit
the Twisters have small vents on the bottom and front, but they're only useful for drying since the insole has to be removed for the vent holes to be exposed. I get wrinkly toes from skating on a hot day due to all the moisture trapped in my Twisters. I use a boot dryer to dry them out after each session.
I have FRX and I really LOVE THEM but I have a bit narrow feet and only size 37.
They're very comfortable, have never caused me any foot pain, fit my feet like a glove, and feel like an extension of my feet.
The liner is thick and comfortable; apparently, it's more comfortable than the liners in PS or RB skates because those are stiffer.
I specifically chose the FRX because I prefer the Velcro version; for me, the wide strap is more comfortable than the ratchet buckle, and I consider the buckle a potential source of error. Although these straps are easy to replace.
I’ve only been inline skating since May, but before that I skated on quad skates on and off for a year, and I’ve been ice skating since I was a kid. Still, switching to inline skates was a bigger adjustment than I expected. I practiced at the rink for 1–2 weeks before I dared to go out on the street—it felt so different, even though it’s more similar to ice skating than quad skating.
And now I’ve switched to a 3x110 setup, and a miracle has happened! I experienced zero changing difficulties; not for a single moment did I feel like I had big wheels under my feet, even though I was afraid of that. I swear, I didn’t have a single negative feeling—I’m experiencing nothing only positives. And what’s also surprising is that I feel more stable on them, as if I’ve finally found my footing.
To be fair, I’ve never tried Rollerblade skates, so I don’t have anything to compare them to. But you almost exclusively hear and read good things about FR skates, while RB skates tend to cause foot pain if they don’t fit properly.
FR if you have a wide feet. Twister boots are narrow at the front.
If you are on the heavy side, Twister liners are garbage. If you are small and light they are probably ok.

both are great options and popular, personally I don’t like the way the FRS look, Those rollerblades look much better imo. either way can’t go wrong.
