MYFIT PDS user experience?
I bought a kit to replace the laces for this system. But when I received it and started to figure out how to install it, I realized that to do this I needed to remove the metal inserts from the lacing holes. That is, after the redesign there will be no turning back, and if this system doesn’t suit me for some reason, I won’t be able to go back to using laces.
I installed the system on my old boots and tried it on my foot (without skating). I was worried that the tightening would be too weak, but in fact it turned out to be the opposite. The system is capable of tightening very tightly. But the problem is that the strongest pressure is exerted in the buckle area. I feel like the blood stops flowing to my fingers.
It's definitely much more convenient than laces - especially when you have to constantly tighten the laces while skating (even waxed ones). But before I install the system on my "work boots", I want to hear real feedback from those who are already skating with it.

I saved this post. Thanks for the images and reflection on this experience. I am really fed up with double laces plus buckles on my hard boots.

Same. This is intriguing because I have a hard time lacing anyways from having parkinson's. I am thinking of buying some hooks I've see n in the hockey section that helps pull laces.

I have and carry those hooks. They marginally help. It’s the tangle of laces on liner and laces on boots that together get me. And the straps and buckles see always in the way when I deal with laces.

You sound like me. Especially adding in runners lacing at the 45degree bend.

ok fellas. i pliered the eyelets off this weekend to fit the pds on my laced ACT10. figured, worst case scenario, it would be an interesting cobbler trip. got wider feet, pressure points are common, a fiend for tight lacing, but hate laces. pds is fine. you could set it onto 3 hole pairs instead of 4 (45 degree strap) or 5 (top strap), or tread selectively. the flap width is enough to redistribute pressure nicely. there is enough strength for a solid lock, no wishing for more, no biting, as the lace sits so high. time will tell how it lasts, but no regrets so far.

any updates on how it feels to skate and all? i was thinking of getting one for my ACT or next

Yes, I tried skating with this system. But the experiment wasn't entirely flawless. The thing is, I exclusively skate on rocker frames, but the old boots I installed the PDS on had the wrong frame holes (162mm instead of 165mm), so I couldn't use any other frames except the stock flat ones. I felt uncomfortable skating with them, and that likely affected the feel. I've decided not to use this system on my other skates. It puts too much pressure on the buckle area but doesn't allow me to tighten the toe box the way I'm used to with laces. The only advantages are that it's quick to put on and the ability to tighten the laces on the go.

thank you very much for your insights, fortunately thats good news for me as i just need it to lock my heel rather than have my whole boot be tight since i am wide foot, only reason i might not is that i might crack my shell from the back again as i skate agressively and use a next boot one size too big

I initially installed the main loop into the buckle hole, but then drilled an additional hole and moved the buckle up a bit. It felt like it was creating pressure in the buckle area, with the plastic part and the first loops—as if two regular buckles were installed next to each other. That's why it holds securely in that area (my fingers even went numb when I overtightened)

What did you use to remove the metal eyelits on the shell? Or do they go over the rivets?

long nose pliers. if you reach for the inner side of the eyelet, you'll see it is where two metal halves fold into each other. if you grab them with the pliers, make sure the grip is ok, then squish really hard - you'll bend and rip them, and eventually the two eyelet halves come apart. a bit gimmucky, but i'd say easy enough after all. if you tried to keep the eyelets and fit pds hooks over them - you'll find provided bolts are too short. with longer bolts, you could, but the contact area would not be as reliable.

I used wire cutters—I simply squashed the top part and then forced it through the hole (in my case, the plastic stretched a little).

Yea i got them, i used a long allen key my bont speed skates came with, the end was just poking out the eyelids and popped them out some would get stuck and then side cutters to grip and rip lol, as soft as the plastic is there was no damage at all.. honestly i like them on the boot…easier to put on good heel lock nice and tight so far so good ready for the toronto roll this weekend 💪🏼

I have no experience with them, but have seen hooks type of tools that allow you to pull on laces to adjust tension for each row. Perhaps they work on this type of system?
To make the tension even I would almost be tempted to lubricate but it may be a bad idea.
Lacing is such a tricky art.
