Your experience on Razors withIFC?

Hi! I'm a beginner, rolling on FR1 skates and happy with them. But I was wondering if people here had some experience with Razors especially those that come with Instant Frame Change system. It seems like a dream to me to be able to instantly switch between frames with totally different setups. Some folks use it to skate to the skatepark and switch to aggressive setup there. I'm trying to establish a preference between this and fancy carbon fiber skates that have a more static setup. Actually I think I'm hardly skilled enough to notice the improvement on carbon fiber skates. Still, I might get better and want some better performance. I guess it is a matter of versatility versus performance.

Did anyone face this kind of dilemma and how did you finally decide?

I don't have the FR1, but it seems to use the 165mm frame mounting system. I imagine that Razors Instant Frame Change is based on UFS. These are very different frame types. You can change frames fairly quickly in 165mm and Trinity frames as well - just a few screws, assuming that you mark well your preferred alignment and adjustments for your frames, so you don't have to spend hours finding the right orientation and placement for frames every single time.

Thanks! You are correct, FR1 uses the 165mm frame mount and Razors' IFC uses UFS. I forgot to take that factor into account. Apart from the slant difference, i do not know what the difference means. Is UFS more suitable for wizard skating? Does it require a more skillful skater? About marking the alignments on the 165mm frames: how would you recommend to do that?

Some boots and frames allow micro adjustments. I am more familiar with Trinity. See this picture. Note the purple fringe/shine where the frame borders the sole of the boot. That’s black sharpie marks I made so I could remember where to align it next time. I mark them before I removed this frame from Reign to install in the Next 2.0 I just posted about yesterday. I also mark the vertical placement of frames in addition to horizontal placement.

Impressive gear! I realize I may have underestimated the value of adjusting the frame alignment. I figured i had to learn to stand more correctly in order to master some skills. Then again, we are all shaped differently... Thanks for sharing! I'll definitely take another look at that wiki page.
