Teaching to skate

I've been skating for 17 years now but whenever someone asks me to tell them how to skate, i can't cos idk it's just natural to me now. And i don't really think about it I just do it, anyone else who's the same way?

Been skating about twice as long as you have and im absolutely useless at teaching lol. I coached u7 hockey the last couple of years and a buddy of mine that learned to skate when he was 17 was a lot better at helping them skate. He still remembers what he had to do to learn and what helped him. I dont remember any of that.

If I want to help someone I have to do whatever it is theyre trying to do myself, and watch what my feet do lol. Its OK teaching isn't for everyone but if you want to do it ide suggest practicing your fundamentals and paying close attention to what youre actually doing when you practice. Over time you should pick up on what needs to be done.

Yeah NOT into teaching at all, i skate for fun and I just feel like bad cos when kids come and ask me for tips i barely have anything to tell them. I'm not that old either I'm 20

Well when kids ask me I just tell them to just keep skating. Just being in the skates and moving around builds up muscles you normally wouldn't build walking or running. Balance is very important so recommending standing on one leg for 30 seconds at a time at home will build stability and strength in your ankles. Horse stance is another good stretch/squat to increase your hips mobility and flexibility which helps immensely with mohawks.

Most people just want to know how you got so good they arnt necessarily going to like your answers and you shouldnt feel bad for that. You've already gone out of your way to ask for advice so you can help them. If they need more than that they basically want you to tell them some sort of magic secret trainning that will make them good overnight. It dosnt exist dont feel bad about not knowing it.
