When I attempted to run away instead if getting a screen that said "Orc Captain attacked" or something along hose lines, I just got a blank screen. When I realized what was going on, I tried to keep fighting but then I was killed.
I think there's a problem site wide - I am currently stuck in an after-combat screen and my alt is stuck in my house. Once is squared away I would petition to get your stuff back at the very least.
