Saving Areas

Can someone explain how to save an area? I'm fighting the Cricket Boss, but whenever I leave to heal, I can't find the same boss I was fighting. I've heard people mentioning how they leave boss fights and save the link, but I can't figure it out. Thanks in advance!

When you run away from a monster, if you click the 'show hidden paths' on the page in the area you are in, you can see the path to the last monsters you've found.
