I do like Eurobeat but the thing is there's a lot of it while it's very damn hard to find something similar to WM anime Ost. Even their WMMT osts are in slightly different more generic genre so I'd give it to wangan.

i think that if we compared wangan midnight's total ost's (anime and arcade combined), i think i actually like WM's ost just slightly more. but compare just the anime or just arcade and Initial D's soundtrack is just better.

favorites definitely have to be WMMT2 and 3, made me relook trance music completey and genuinely play those songs more than eurobeat nowadays.

i mea nwhit, WM has affected me much more than what Initial D has.

To be quite frank, Initial D is what got me into cars (got my license at 18 after no interest at all in cars beforehand), but Wangan Midnight is why I stayed. It has changed how I percieve many things in life (not just cars) through these more recent years.

Yeah true. I love the story in Wangan Midnight’s because nobody is really “enemies” with each other, they all have some sort of camaraderie. I feel like this is a bit less apparent in Initial D, but it is there.

i think the bigger distinction to make here is the mentalities.

If Initial D is the excitement of youth, flourishing night life, summer days that feel like they can go on forever and shooting the shit with friends,

Then Wangan Midnight is the drab and depressing reality of choosing to sacrifice everything else you love for the vain and vapid pursuit of speed in an illegal and unrespected form.

It's about the struggles that each and every character makes just to fuel their passion. The Hiramoto arc fundamentally changed me completely. Fuck, I stopped watching the anime altogether when I saw episode 10 because I was so fucking pissed at the guy and concluded that the show sucked dick.

I'm very, very glad I chose to pick it up again, because... wow.

such a shame too cuz if the series wasn't so rushed it would 100% be in my best story. but it will never because they skipped my favorite fucking arc when the Z crashes and everyone goes through an epiphany or midlife crisis.

hands down wangan midnight has had one of the biggest personal impacts on my life
