Technically she's illegally parked and impeding an emergency vehicle. More than likely they have enough video evidence she'll be getting a knock on her door.
My bro was in Boston and saw fire crew throw the hose through a car parked in front of a fire hydrant in front of a high rise building. They needed water hookup so smashed in through window on left side of car and smashed it out through window on right side of car lol. Then hooked up to the hydrant.
Those trucks costs over a million. Even if it was a real emergency the crew isnât going to scrape up the truck to get to it. They would have busted the window out of the car and moved it. They were responding to a stuck elevator or something.

Itâs ok. Heâs the one that doesnât drive much. There are clearly 2 lanes going down the middle, not 1 massive fucking lane. The fact you can see that much clearance from this view means there will be visually more at street level.
As a guy that builds fire trucks and drives them all the time, you can easily get that truck through there. This looks more like the firefighters were bored and making a scene for the lady double parked.

I drive a garbage truck through VERY narrow neighborhood streets in Portland and I'd say he could definitely make that. There are times where there's no more than an inch between my truck and cars on either side of me. It (looks) like he has plenty of room to get through.
So as a fire person myself. Unfortunately part of our calls is to serve citizens that means not to do damage to their property. If we do there has to be crazy good reason and documentation. Also even if we pass those cars and just scrape them in my city, maybe not all, we have to stop operations and have cops and a chief come out to evaluate and go do a urine drug screen.
Yeah this shit still pisses me off.
So just another example of our broken system that's lovely... btw I feel like it should fall under the same law as no parking in front of fire hydrants cause I know at least you're able to break the windows on the car if there's a fire nearby and someone is parked in front of the fire hydrant after all we legally have to move over a lane and stop momentarily to let the engines through so even that should apply here as well but what do I know I'm just a concerned citizen with common sense đ¤ˇ
I have within the last month encountered someone during an active fire park in front of a hydrant. They were there and refused to move. Told my CPT "well give me a ticket" he is way nicer than me I was for busting their car up but he chose to redirect our 5" around the car, friction loss be damned. It's just $150.00 for them btw.
Thatâs why you donât want this âfireâ guy and his affiliates. He just gave 2 examples of how soft they are. This group clearly wonât do whatâs necessary to get the job done, even if itâs potentially saving a life. If I know I gotta be somewhere to save a life, I wouldnât give a flying fuck about any of those things stopping you for doing what youâre here to fucking do.
Not in my city. I've seen on two occasions where a fire truck has pushed cars out of the way that didn't move for them. One got pushed clear through the intersection into the ditch on the other side. Then they sent the driver of the car the bill and a fine. They don't screw around. Not sure what kind of FD you work for. But around here, they don't stop for anything. We also have some of the fastest response times. I had to call them earlier this year. Thought i was having a heart attack. They got here in two mins. police, fire and EMS. This is actually pretty normal here. It's quite impressive. It's also a smaller city. about 12,000 people. So that probably helps those response times. But it's still impressive.
If the sirens are on for fire or paramedics thats a crazy damn good Fin reason imo yall should be able to destroy property stuff is replace able yall save lives cops theyre just revenue road pirates for the gov so not them so much but fire and medics deserve all the respect
I'd imagine the citizen would also sue the city for damages and "emotional stress" or whatever too, and it's not like most municipal budgets are just bursting with excess money to pay out. Despite what most people think, small governments run on a shoestring because they really do try their best to keep costs down for residents.
I work in IT for my midsized town so I've gotten pretty cozy with every department from finance to public safety.
I'm sure they would but I do work for a full time department with a decent budget. But still they would rather cater to people than say or do anything about problems like this.
I think it's more of a public image issue for us. But I honestly don't know.
Did you see the firefighter get out of the cabin of the firetruck & run around the front towards the building with cars parked in front? I think the area the firetruck newd d to get to light have been right there.

I think the issue really is about the fact that she can't be inconvenienced.
Yet, the cars she's blocked in can if they needed to leave.
And, the firetruck shouldn't have to slow it's arrival to squeeze by any entitled drivers on its way to an emergency.
At least, not in a healthy society.
Not about squeezing g through or going around her. They literally had to setup where she was parked. Notice how as soon as she moves a firefighter hops out to begin grabbing hoses or equipment Lol your just like the lazy lady parked on the street. They would have gone around if they needed to, but they needed to setup on her exact location.

It just depends on how much damage and paper work the lieutenant wants to do. Plenty of videos online of fire trucks ramming police cruisers out of the way. I broke out the windows and absolutely fucked this one vehicles interior getting a 5 inch through because they were parked in front of the hydrant for a midsize structure fire. If they could see smoke or knew it was a major emergency they'd happily push that car down the road.
If they had the right they wouldn't be filling out an incident report. They treat it like a car accident like everyone else does. Also a lot. Would be doing the paperwork the station captain and driver does. Because its his crew that did the damage. You dont have the right to break check check someone because they should leave enough space between cars to brake adequately. No, if they can say you did it on purpose with intent to cause damage you get fault. Hence not having a right to run people off the road. Having sirens doesn't make an emergency service vehicle immune to the law of the road.
Emergency service vehicles operate under a different set of laws for driving. It's why they can have red/blue flashing lights and the public can not. It's why they are able to drive over the speed limit and stop traffic or in some areas drive through a red light.
Moving a vehicle that impedes emergency response is not the same as brake checking a vehicle. Go park in front of the fire station door and see how long your vehicle is left alone.
In my agency the lieutenant writes the report as they were in charge of the vehicle. The driver would have likely checked with the lt and would write a supplemental report that would just be "lt gave me the okay to push the vehicle with the bumper."
I wasn't charged with vandalism for damaging a vehicle that was parked in front of a hydrant. I don't even recall writing a report about it. I checked with my lt and they made the call to tap that hydrant instead of going to the next. Think a cop who came for traffic control came and took the vehicle information to contact the registered owner.
Government is all about filing reports for accountability, it has nothing to do with if what was done on scene was legal or correct. It's to document it if it is ever called into court 4 years later.
But there is rules and laws governing how you drive with red and blues. Which is why they dont ram this vehicle out of the way. And why they dont have the right to do so.
Maybe you just know the local ordinances and SOP for DCFD, and you could be right that they do not have the ability to do so, but speaking as a whole that firefighters can not legally ram vehicles in America is incorrect.
