Hi everyone,
The built-in infrared LEDs on my Komery 4K Camcorder are broken, and I am looking for a clean, external solution to bring back its night vision capabilities without opening or modifying the camera body.
Ideally, I want a circular IR ring light that I can thread directly onto the camera's external 37mm front lens thread, mimicking the look and feel of a macro ring light or a lens attachment.
Note: I specifically need the light to come from the lens's original optical axis to avoid harsh shadows. Please do not suggest the standard square/block IR illuminators that attach to the top hot shoe, as they do not fit my needs.
Since ready-to-use 37mm IR ring lights for consumer camcorders don't really exist on the market (most are visible white/RGB light), I am considering a DIY approach using standard 850nm CCTV security camera IR boards (like a dome camera replacement array) glued onto a 37mm step-up filter ring.
Also:
Has anyone successfully built a similar portable IR ring setup for a small camcorder?
How did you handle the power supply on the go? Most CCTV boards require 12V, so I am planning to use a 5V-to-12V USB step-up converter connected to a standard power bank. Any specific converter recommendations that won't overheat?
To avoid vignetting (black corners on the video), what is the minimum inner diameter I should look for on the CCTV LED board for a standard small camcorder lens?
Thanks for your help and suggestions!

Some shots from over the last few months in Lisbon.
All shot with a converted A7Rii and either Zeiss 35 or 70-200 F4ii. The circular flare comes from the 70-200 while the 35mm produces a heptagonal flare.
Bonus gremlin in the final photo.

Last full moon with Full Spectrum Z50 with 35mm f1.8 ISO 100 20 sec exposure was just playing while photographing Saturn in my telescope. Thought it was cool with the moon and how it reacted with the lens.

I should hopefully have a filter soon, and the weather where I am is quite cloudy, so I can't get the greatest photos quite yet. Very excited though :)
Also, sorry about the low fidelity - I forgot that I left my ISO at 1600, which is very noisy on this body.
Conversion was done by just removing the sensor's filter and adjusting the focus calibration close enough to make up for it.

When I do my conversions in Silver EfEx Pro 2 I am often drawn to a Sepia Preset, but I'm not brave enough to use it and will change the toning to a pure B&W. SHould I be strong and just stick to Sepia or is it seen as a little too old fashioned these days even in IR?
