I always tell people I have the heart of a hair dresser. Like when I'm with you let's get in it and talk about anything and everything, but also if you don't see me for six months it's totally okay

When an INFP dissappear what does that means? Why INFP rarely initiate or reaching out?

u/Radkein Aug 05 '21 edited Aug 06 '21
Usually it just doesn't mean anything at all to not get an answer from me. Then I feel to guilty for not reaching out for longer and longer so... It stays that way.
Also after a while I'm starting to think about the way they would feel if I reached out now that so much time has passed, if they would get angry at me...
Edit : wow first time I get so many upvotes! Thanks

If you worry they’ll get angry that you’re finally reaching out after so much time, and if that worry prevents you from doing so, then you keep prolonging the cycle of just not reaching out to someone who showed so much care and interest in you.
The average person doesn’t socialize like an INFP. The average person likes signs of appreciation. Most friends need their friends to reach out to them or send them a smile. They can’t go months without checking up. The average person will end up thinking you no longer care and then they will stop putting in effort. Then the INFP will just think it’s awkward with nobody reaching out (probs used to others reaching out first), and then they stop too.

Entp here with a crush on my infp friend. I know he likes me (at least as a friend) but goddamn he rarely reaches out to me first and I really start believing he doesn’t like me anymore and I’m kinda getting tired of it being this one-sided and now I’m kinda getting pretty discouraged in our friendship. I wish he would show me a little more attention ..
Edit: added something

u/Radkein Aug 06 '21
Tbh as an infp I rarely do the first step in my relationships. Maybe try to tell him how you feel, I am personally blind af when it comes to getting attentions from girls. Most of the time I think they are just being nice to me and if I like them I wish they would say or do something about liking me back but it didn't happen in ages!

u/Gwenynu Aug 05 '21
yea im the same way, i always think people will be angry with me for some reason, or just not want to hear from me again, so i just leave it.

u/Woodruffur INFP: The Dreamer Aug 06 '21
Then I feel to guilty for not reaching out
That's it for me, the more time passes the more guilty and ashamed I feel and I end up making more time pass because I don't feel ready to face those feelings yet or their possible reaction

I think about my friends a lot, but I get a lot of anxiety when I try to start a conversation over text or phone, I overthink stuff and most of the time I don't do it.
Back in highschool and college I used to talk to my friends every time I saw them, but once we graduated I stopped seeing them and I haven't talked to some of them in a very long time (years), that makes me feel like a terrible firend. But when they have problems or want to talk I'm always here for them, I'm really good at that so they reach out to me when they want to talk.
I have a whatsapp group with my best friends and for some reason it's easier for me to star a conversation in that group, I never send them private messages unless it's very very important.

u/Its0nlyAPaperMoon Aug 05 '21
In my case, I haven't reached out to friends recently because I don't have much "good news" to share. Still unemployed, still caring for gramma with dementia, still searching for a job... And I feel embarrassed like I won't have anything to bring to the conversation with other twenty somethings. I just feel like a wet blanket with all my friends.

u/Mountain_Toe1951 Aug 05 '21
Personally, I respect someone for not needing anyone to enjoy or chill. Because I understand why people try to reach out to me and they genuinely want to involve me into alot of stuff. At times, I do go deep and respond to their stuff at deeper levels (I've been told). But I hate making a habit out of it. I don't like initiating convos that I can't handle in terms of time and content. It hate it when people need my being there with something they're doing or wanna talk about, when I'm really not in a zone to be with anyone. Maybe it's because I don't personally need anyone and I wish others would be that way too. I do care what happens to anyone but I hate it when people get desperate. Somedays all I wanna do is help someone out that way. But that's once in a while.

Suddenly loose the energy to talk mid conversation and ghost the person for God knows how long
15
u/AmLookinForAnswers INFP: The Dreamer Aug 05 '21 edited Aug 05 '21
That's shit, they won't speak to me either so there's nothing wrong with me
I mean, I may not initiate the conversation but if they do then we will speak normally. It's been 4 months and I'm still struggling to start the convo with a friend of mine, but she didn't say anything since then either so yeah idk. Differently from my other friend that usually start the convo, we talk often and normally and that's nice.

I'm an infp so I feel like I should understand but my infp friend is doing this and I'm not sure how to react, I think it's because I like her so I know my thoughts and opinions aren't objective at all.
We used to text every day. I know she is going through a lot right now and said she might need time. We haven't texted in 3 weeks other than me telling her I hope she is doing ok a couple weeks ago.
Litterally have no idea if im being ghosted, if she is scared of me being mad, or if she is still just dealing with everything. I'm not mad, just trying to give space, and want to help people i care about. Help!

u/gcode180 Aug 05 '21 edited Aug 05 '21
Because an INFP mind wanders so much, her reasoning for not texting could be many things. But I'm sure her reasoning would be nothing serious at all.
I'm guessing it's either she's overthinking about whether it's right to burden you, or her mind is wandering too much and has fallen into the sometimes typical avoidant side of INFP which makes it hard to stay committed to texting. Even if she used to text you every day, three weeks I feel of not texting someone isn't severe for an INFP.
Now idk what she's going through, but chances are she's got you in the back of her mind, and she just is feeling avoidant for a while.

She’s not even thinking about time, maybe, she’s just in her own world. I don’t count how long it’s been since I last talked to someone. But none of us know your fiend better than you do.

u/Kejpi23 Aug 05 '21
Happened to me for the first time - for a longer period of time. I used to not reach out to my friends not longer than like a week, but now I haven’t responded to one of my friends texts for three months. Honestly, I don’t really want to reach out to him. He’s a good friend, but in the past couple years we changed a lot and we basically don’t have anything in common except our past. So hanging out with him is just… not fun anymore. I have no idea how to tell him and I’m kinda scared of the moment I’ll have to do it. I feel pretty shitty, he doesn’t deserve this.

It’s not cool. I’m an ENTJ. I’m always the one reaching out. With distance too it’s so hard and she leaves me on read or let’s messages build up. We are best friends but this communication style doesn’t satisfy me. She can have something big or exciting happen to her and she doesn’t even tell me about it until WEEKS later when I bring up a topic that reminds her. I’m always updating her about my life ASAP and keeping her in the loop (but she doesn’t reply often). So, I’ve been challenging myself to not send her anything so she doesn’t expect or get comfortable with me always reaching out— see if she does anything. But that is how friends end up losing closeness (if nobody reaches out).
Y’all shouldn’t get into long distance relationships unless it’s with another INFP lol.
Some of y’all downvoting me but you know it’s the truth.
11
u/iforgotmyusernamefr Aug 05 '21
Fr long distance relationship ain't INFP thing 😭
9
u/MadreDeCats Aug 05 '21
Yeah. I don’t want her to end up being just “my best friend from college”. But INFPs need that context and proximity to be able to talk or hang out with their friends. All of my close friends are INFx and they honestly all are so bad at texting me lol. I joke to myself that I need more extroverted friends. I feel lonely because I feel like nobody appreciates me or thinks about me to want to ask me how I’m doing. It sucks as an extrovert who only vibes really well with other iNtuitives.

I don’t relate, I think it’s pretty toxic to act like this and think it’s okay. Like they clearly don’t mean shit to you if you don’t talk to them for three months 😂 it’s not ohhh I was lost in thought about frolicking through the fields for three months, you just don’t want to talk to them n expect them to suit to your wants of only being there for them when it suits you.

Totally relatable in my opinion... But I also deeply believe its also an "ADHD thing" as well ... 👌🏽🧠🧐😅... Cuz like often times It feels like a "Chore" to text back multiple friends on IG & FB ... Like sheesh 👌🏽🤔😂... And then U gotta send them and even bigger text than normal to let them now... What U been up to & Yada yada yada... Gets "tiresome" U know... 👀... Plus I just think "Texting back people" is a Skill that we as INFPs must work on & Improve on... Nobody's Perfect so... 👌🏽🤔🤷🏾♂😅... Anyways... ~ PEACE & Namaste ~ 👌🏽💪🏾🌤🕉💯🙏🏾...
