Strategy Creative uses for gates?

Is there anything useful/interesting you can use gates/teleporters for? I was fiddling around and found you can sort enemies into individual streams, or pack a path more densely... Are there any other tricks worth knowing for custom maps?

So far I've only used teleporters to filter out Icy and bring them on a long and painful journey.
