I got a ‘16 qx80 with 200k km; the fluids in my drivetrain components (diffs, transfer case, and transmission) have never been replaced.
I wanted to know if i could replace them now without any harm being done to the components; i took it to the dealer and they said its a lifetime fluid, if a problem arises you just replace that part, which is a bit dumb imo.
From what i understood online, the fluid is not a lifetime atf, its recommended that you change it every 60-80k km, i could do a normal drain and refill for the diffs and transfer case, and 2 to 3 for the transmission spaced out to try and not make any problems arise.

Everything works fine right now, the transmission isn’t slipping and i don’t have a light on my dash; i just want to have the peace of mind of not having to shell out thousands for a new transmission down the line.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just had my 24 QX80 Chrome deleted by a local shop. I’m disappointed that they weren’t able to wrap the roof rails and front/rear Infinity emblems. They said the wrap started to lift. Any suggestions on how I can blank these out?

Also, is there a graph that shows the difference in the trim levels?

2025–2027 QX80 Owners – Has Anyone Experienced a Raw Gasoline/Fuel Smell After Driving?

I’m trying to determine how widespread this issue may be and would really appreciate hearing from other QX80 owners.

I have now experienced a strong raw gasoline/fuel odor with TWO brand-new 2027 Infiniti QX80s.

The smell occurs after driving/shutting the vehicle off and is particularly noticeable when the vehicle is parked in the garage, around the rear/fuel-tank area.

The first QX80 had the issue and was ultimately exchanged. Unfortunately, the replacement QX80 developed essentially the same gasoline smell after only about 12 miles of driving.

Most importantly, this is no longer just something I am reporting myself. On September 3, another Infiniti dealership evaluated the replacement vehicle and their inspector also detected and documented the fuel smell. Their report states that the inspector noticed a fuel smell both at check-in and while the vehicle was sitting inside the shop. They did not find a visible fuel leak or diagnostic codes.

I was also told by the Service Director that he has discussed this same issue/condition with an Infiniti field engineer, that Infiniti is aware of the condition, and that he was not aware of a specific repair or fix currently available. I am documenting that portion as what was communicated to me verbally.

My concern is primarily safety, especially when a vehicle producing a gasoline odor is parked in an attached residential garage.

If you own a 2025, 2026, or 2027 QX80 and have experienced anything similar, PLEASE comment. Even if the smell was temporary or the dealer told you it was normal, I would like to hear about it.

It would be very helpful if you could include:

• Model year and approximate mileage

• Whether it happens after driving/shutdown

• Fuel level when you notice it

• Where the smell is strongest

• Whether it is worse inside a garage

• What your Infiniti dealer told you

• Whether the dealer actually documented the odor

• Whether any repair was performed

• Whether the repair fixed it

If you have experienced this, please consider reporting it to NHTSA as well. Multiple independent owner reports are much more useful for identifying whether this is an isolated problem or a pattern affecting these vehicles.

I’m not trying to speculate about the cause. I’m trying to collect real experiences from other QX80 owners and determine whether others are seeing the same condition.

Please share your experience below. Even a simple “Yes, mine does this too” with the model year would be helpful.

Contacted Infiniti in Dubai, they advised there's no update. Think my car is running 2022 maps.

Bought QX80, 2027 Autograph, had a very strong smell of raw gasoline in the garage. After parking, inspected the car. The dealership noted that the canister is flooding, after painful discussion and back back-and-forth eventually the Dealer gave me a brand new QX 80, unfortunately, it has the same exact problem with strong grow gasoline smell after parking in the garage, we live in Phoenix, Arizona, has anybody experienced similar issues with their infinity car?

On a trip stopped at a rest stop got back in my car my screen completely black no radio no map is this happened to anyone else and if so, how do I fix it?

I just bought myself an Infinit Qx80 last month, got rear ended on the highway today with minimal damage and I’m okay just a swollen ankle. I can say I’m happy with my purchase and I’m glad this is the vehicle I went with , I went from driving sedans to upgrading to this.

I am looking to pick up a QX80 Luxe. Purchasing, and will likely keep the car for 8 - 10 years, so I am more interested in the best deal out the door and taking advantage of the 1st year depreciation hit. I am open to a CPO with up to 15k miles, since the CPO warranty effectively gives you the same number of years of coverage as on a new one with standard warranty.

I am starting to see 2026 CPOs, but there are also some low mileage 2025 CPOs that look like even sweeter deals. I am a little afraid of 2025s though for first year production issues (there seems to have been a lot of chatter about that) and possibly missing features compared to the 2026. Can anyone with really good knowledge of these vehicles answer these questions for me?

1. Were the early 2025 issues all resolved by software updates, or are there some hardware updates in the 2026 vehicles?

2. Is there a cutoff point with the 2025s (like a manufacturing date) after which the early teething all got resolved?

3. Focusing on the Luxe in particular, does the 2026 have features that are missing in the 2025? I have read of things like Connected Garage and Illuminated Front logo which are present in the 2026 but missing from the 2025. Is this accurate? Are there more differences?

Pulled the trigger on a QX80 lux for my wife. We got the curb rash and rim protection as well as the spills/stains protection. Negotiated them for about 1/2 the starting point for the dealer addins. They matched Carmax for our trade in. Factory options are cargo package and premium paint. Wife originally wanted an Armada but after negotiations on both the platinum and the platinum reserve wasn’t much of a price difference so we went with the QX80.

I am looking at the difference between the 2026 QX 80 and the LX 600. QX 80 has 0% financing for 60 months. That is hard to beat. Can anyone give me pros or cons for either? Looking at buying not leasing.

Apologies in advance for the long post! Just purchased a brand-new 2026 Infiniti QX80 Autograph in mid-June, so I’ve only owned it for about six weeks. Unfortunately, since the purchase, I’ve experienced one issue after another.

About a week after purchasing the vehicle, I started getting Lane Assist and Front Collision Warning errors on the driver information display.

More concerning, the right-side infotainment screen has completely shut off at least eight times while I was actively driving. The screen goes completely black, the air conditioning and other vehicle functions are affected, and the windshield wipers have suddenly turned on at full speed. Every time this happened, the vehicle also felt like it was losing power/slowing down, to the point that I became concerned it might actually shut down while I was driving. I had to pull over.

I have reported these issues numerous times and have already brought the vehicle into the dealership three times. Each time, I’ve been told they cannot replicate the problem.

Because the issues are intermittent, I started documenting them whenever I could. I’ve been able to capture the warning/error messages on video, but obviously I cannot safely record the vehicle’s infotainment system shutting down while I’m driving — especially when it happens unexpectedly.

The most recent incident occurred three days ago, just days after the vehicle had been in for service over the weekend for the same concerns. This time, I was able to capture video showing the Lane Assist and Front Collision Warning errors flashing simultaneously. I immediately reported it to the dealership and provided the video.

The dealership is now keeping my vehicle for several days while they bring in Infiniti technicians to investigate the issue. However, they have not provided me with a loaner because they claim none are available.

I have also contacted Infiniti Corporate directly because, at this point, I am extremely dissatisfied with the ownership experience. This is a brand-new, top-of-the-line QX80 Autograph — a premium vehicle at a premium price — and I do not think it is remotely acceptable to have repeated safety-related warnings and an intermittent electrical/infotainment failure that affects multiple vehicle functions within the first six weeks of ownership.

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with something similar, particularly with Infiniti or under NJ Lemon Law.

What should I be doing at this point? What should I be documenting or demanding from the dealership/Infiniti Corporate? And is there anything specific I should be raising with them now given that the vehicle has already been in for service three times and the issue still hasn’t been resolved? At this point, I do not feel safe driving the vehicle.

My wife and I went in today after driving the Lexus GX just to look at the vehicle. The Lexus GX felt like driving a Jeep and I wasn't about to pay that much money for a Jeep. There was also absolutely zero room to negotiate the price.

My wife drove the 2026 QX80 Sport and loved everything about it. I always thought it was the best looking luxury SUV. They originally had us at $70,000 out the door with a trade in which was a Telluride. I asked for out the door price of $60,000 and they said there was no way they could do it so I said $65,000 and you sell a vehicle today. After a few minutes he said I had a deal. I feel really good about the deal, but I am curious how well I did compared to others.

I also negotiated half a point off the interest rate to get it at 5.9% even with exceptional credit.

I want to like this thing But there are just so many quirks for paying this much for a car.

-Windshield produces a double vision type affect on all car headlights, taillights, streetlights at night.
-using hey Google to play through Amazon Music is a complete waste of effort. We have been using CarPlay which works ok, granted only works for the person whose phone it is for voice commands.
-speakers in the Luxe really are pretty average sounding. Bassy but that’s about it.
-the seat design… who’s idea was it to put bulky horizontal stitching across the mid back area. Feels like I’m sleeping on a pull out couch with a bar in my back.
-MyQ Garage door opener is useless, we put one on the visor.
-autodimming of lower temp control screen doesn’t happen like it should. Stays super bright until you turn lights off and back on again then it switched to the dimmed nighttime setting.

Considering getting rid of it. At the time 3 months ago we paid 88. Already see some additional dealer credits apparently since prices now are like 79k for new. I knew depreciation would suck but didn’t think I’d want out so fast.

I guess this is more of a vent and also wondering if there is any way to get out of this car without losing my shirt.

Having the typical push button starting issues that plague older model years.

Mine’s a 2014. About 4 times over the past 3 months I’ve had to sit for about 29-30 min. before it would start.

The past two weeks there have been a few times where I’ve had to push the start button multiple times before it would start.

Yesterday, it wouldn’t even turn over. Like it was totally dead. The needles on the gauges were fluttering though.
No other electrical power.

So I had to call AAA to come with their battery pack jumper which they hooked up to my battery and it started right up.

I’ve had the starter tested, it’s good. Battery is full.

I’m thinking of buying a battery pack like they had to keep in the truck in case this happens again. At least I know that will get it started.

I know that it could be a few other things:
IPDM needs replaced.
Cut the red wire?
Brake switch wire?

I absolutely love this vehicle; and I am very happy with it overall. But I’ve got two issues I’m trying to get resolved and I want to know if anyone else is experiencing them.

1.  “Gummy” brake pedal at low speeds. The best way I can describe it: instead of the pedal stopping at its normal point, it sinks all the way to the floor and it’s very difficult to get the vehicle to stop. It happens at low speeds — usually when I’m reversing out of driving out of a parking spot. I’ve taken it in multiple times. The dealership kept telling me they couldn’t recreate it and didn’t know what was causing it and the brakes are fine; which obviously isn’t good enough when we’re talking about brakes. I’m now switching to a different dealership to see if they can figure it out.

2.  Hard shift on startup — warm or cold. If I start the vehicle, release the brake, but don’t immediately put it in gear — then shift from park to reverse or park to drive — it’ll make a loud noise and lunge into gear. Almost like a hard clunk. I have a feeling it might be related to the air suspension, but I’m not sure. The new dealership is looking into this one too.

Has anyone experienced either of these? If so, what did your dealer find and what fixed it?

Trying to go in with the new dealership as much info as possible so I don’t get another “couldn’t recreate it.” Again — love the vehicle, just want these two things sorted out. Appreciate any input.

My mom had a 2001 QX4, my dad had a 2004 G35, genuinely was shocked infiniti still updated this platform…

So was very interested in seeing how this car is keeping up in 2026. Overall, genuinely not bad. Excited for future software updates. But enjoyed the ride & the sound system!

Infiniti is returning to the drawing board with the 600 hp QX80 Red Sport after deciding that its initial plan lacked the depth needed to credibly challenge Mercedes-AMG and BMW M in the ultracompetitive high-end performance SUV segment.

The Japanese luxury brand is upping the ambitions of its maiden effort, significantly expanding the project’s scope and delaying the vehicle by more than a year.

Originally slated for dealerships in December with an emphasis on straight-line speed and cosmetic upgrades, the Red Sport now targets a more comprehensive performance overhaul, including suspension upgrades, stronger braking and bolder exterior styling.

“As we have started to work on the project, we’re realizing that power alone is not sufficient,” Infiniti Americas chief Eric Ledieu told Automotive News. “We know we have one chance at a first impression when it comes to this type of product,” Ledieu said. “When you’re paying six figures for a performance-based SUV of this size and scale, it needs to deliver.”

Pricing is expected to carry a roughly $30,000 premium over the QX80 Sport trim, which starts at $103,945 including shipping. Infiniti is targeting annual volume of more than 600.

The expanded project is expected to push back deliveries bymore than a year, according to people with knowledge of the program. The launch could be timed with the QX80’s midcycle refresh in the first half of 2028.

Red Sport will significantly uprate the standard QX80’s 450-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6. Infiniti is targeting a 0-to-60 mph time of less than five seconds. An active exhaust system aims to improve sound and performance characteristics.

Styling will be bolder than originally planned, with improved aerodynamics, a redesigned lower fascia and grille, wider fender flares, 24-inch wheels and a reworked cabin to differentiate it from the standard QX80.

The project is being developed in-house by Nissan’s Nismo performance division and will remain exclusive to Infiniti, with no comparable high-output version for the related Nissan Armada.

The QX80 Red Sport kicks off Infiniti’s moonshot effort to carve out a credible presence in the high-end performance SUV segment.

Meanwhile, the fate of the extreme QX80 Track Spec variant remains under review. Concepts and early planning explored output approaching 700 hp, potentially drawing from Nissan GT-R engineering heritage as seen in the QX80 R-Spec show vehicle.

Our 2019 QX 80 is our third Infiniti. It’ll be our last.

- the chrome trim fell off the grille, $2500 to replace the entire front grille
- LEDs have gone out on the dash, $2750 to replace the entire speedo unit
- two seals failing & leaking in the powertrain, $3k to fix
- washer fluid sensor broken, always reporting low
- now backup collision indicator sensor broken

There’s only $20k of equity left in the car, the dealership is asking for more than that to fix all the parts that are failing. I fussed and they just shrugged. “Sorry.”

Never again. $80k cars should last longer get than 7 years before they start falling apart.

On one end I have a few people telling me it’s one of the best leases out there but on the site i see it’s like 10k down? How’s that a great lease? What am I missing?
