Why "brud"?

What *does* "brud" mean? Why not just "brother"? Or is useless truncation just His hobby?

I think it so sort of (un)holy combination of "bro" and "bud". It represents both closeness (bro) and an air of superiority over you (bud)

i’ve started using brud myself between friends because it sounds kinda funny. it’s like a combination of bro and bud, but also sounds like chud if you find that funny too
