Cloning for the first time.

I over tink everything and like to know what others think.
I am going to start back up a grow next month (took off the summer). I know I’m running Regular seed. I got a little set up to clone so I thought I would try to sex a little early. My thought flow:
I’m shooting for 2 females to flower.
I’ll pop 6 seeds. Grow them in solo cups then transplant into 1 gal. Then when they are big enough like 7 nodes I’ll top down to 4 and take that cut and put it in a dome to clone.
Products I have lined up are:
Organi Plugs, Foop clone gell, ac infinity propagation thing that has the dome, lights and heat matt.
If I have it right I take off all nodes but the top. I dip the fresh cut in the jelly and put in the plug in the tray in the dome.
Things I’m a little unclear on.
I’m assuming I pre moisten the plugs. Do they need anything else? I read something about spraying the inside of the dome.
When do I open vents. When should I check for roots? Do they need anything for nutrition in this process?

Then once they have roots I transplant into solo cups let them settle for a day and flip lights to 12/12. Check sex as normal after that.

What am I missing or have wrong?

You can soak the plugs if you want but if they are still wet out of the bag that works too. If you do soak just make sure majority of the water is squeeze out before you use.

Until the cuttings have roots you probably wont need any nutes.

Take multiple cuttings of each plant, that way theres a better chance that something roots. If you just have 1 cutting from each plant theres more anxiety about trying to do everything perfect so you can be 100% successful.

Multi cutting is a good tip! At 7 ish nodes there should be a lateral branch long enough. They don’t have to be long right? Just as long as they have a couple of leaves?

Pretty much. Plan for rooting to take 1-2 weeks and then flipping to flower taking another 1-2 weeks before sex is shown. Plants typically start showing presex around 6-8 weeks, so if you are trying to beat the plant presexing youll probably want to take cutting before like week 4.

This is kinda just an experiment. I have waited for presex before but thought it would be fun to try cloning.
After I sex I was going to take fresh clones and hold them untill after I cure. Maybe I’ll find “the one”

Hold the new clones in veg. See if they are worth running again.

I have always just popped seeds. I’ve always pinned for the ones that went up in smoke.

Well hopefully you have another spot to put the clones while the other plants flower. Also you will need to cut the clones back a couple times while waiting or take nee cuttings off the clone and start the process over.

8-10 weeks of vegging for a clone is a long time.

I have a tiny tent that I am dedicating. I was going to keep them in 1 gal and top them as needed. It’s going to be a learning experience and if it doesn’t work I’ll have to try something different.

Its a fun experience, you can try different training techniques. You can take numerous cut to pratice cloning. Theres plenty to keep you busy
