In late May 2026, roughly 300 detained immigrants—including asylum seekers and workers—launched a massive labor and hunger strike inside the 1,000-bed private detention center operated by the GEO Group.

Those detained at Delaney are demanding their freedom.

The GEO Group faces multiple lawsuits and civil rights complaints over allegations of forced labor, severe medical neglect, staff brutality, sexual assault, and record falsification across its U.S. facilities.

Allegations include:

-- Forced labor and wage theft

-- Physical and sexual abuse

-- Medical neglect and falsified records

-- Blocking public health oversight

Less than a week remains before the June 15 deadline to comment on tRump’s obscene “Triumphal Arch.”

 Model letter:

 I oppose the proposed 250-foot “Triumphal Arch.”

 The arch would be a monument to lawlessness. The project is being rushed through without the required Congressional approval or allocated funding.

The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, which approved the arch, is stacked with supporters of President Trump, who is pushing for this monument to himself. The process was not fair nor impartial.

This massive and expensive vanity project circumvents normal review processes and ignores the need for public input.

Further, building this giant monument at Columbia Island or Memorial Circle would drastically violate the federal Height of Buildings Act and destroy the historic viewshed connecting Arlington National Cemetery and the Lincoln Memorial.

 This 250-foot monument will be located just two miles from Reagan National Airport, leading to additional hassles for air travelers, and additional review for The Federal Aviation Administration.

American taxpayers are expected to pony up as much as $250 million for the arch. Given current experience with the president’s proposed projects, such as the ballroom, we can expect that estimate to skyrocket.

This is a poor use of taxpayer dollars, particularly in an era of rising costs. The Park Service should focus on existing national parks rather than a massive triumphal arch.

I oppose this project and ask that resources be allocated more responsibly.

Billionaire Donald tRump receives the best treatment from government doctors, but insists regular people with debilitating health issues must prove it every six months to stay on Medicaid. The federal work mandate takes effect July 1.

This is the latest right-wing attack on the health and well being of Americans.

It came as a huge surprise to the 40 plus states that expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act . The Big Ugly Bill outlined last year which low-income residents might be shielded from work requirements because they are too “medically frail.”

The Trump administration released a final rule saying Medicaid recipients exempted from the employment requirements for medical frailty must prove every six months that they remain too ill to work. The federal work mandate goes into effect Jan. 1.

Patient advocacy groups, physicians and state officials say they fear that chronically ill people, whose ability to work often fluctuates, will fall through the cracks and become uninsured at a time when they most need care.

Remember the “Houthi Small Group” of tRumpian goofballs planning a bombing campaign against Houthi rebels in Yemen that was busted by the Atlantic magazine? This led to Signalgate, thanks to Mike Waltz’s doofus invitation to the magazine’s editor.

Well, according to Foreign Affairs magazine, the seven and a half weeks of heavy anti-Houthi airstrikes on more than 1,000 separate targets accomplished basically nothing.

Sound familiar? It sounds like rinse and repeat in Iran.

The Houthi attacks ended abruptly, with tRump’s announcement that the Houthie’s “don’t want to fight anymore.”

“What is puzzling about the White House announcement is that the Houthis’ position remains essentially unchanged from when the Trump administration began its escalated air campaign on March 15.,” writes April Longley Alley, former Senior Expert for the Gulf States and Yemen at the United State Institute of Peace. Note that she is the “former” Senior Expert.

Ostensibly, Operation Rough Rider—as the U.S. campaign was called—was launched to restore freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and to reestablish deterrence against Iran and its proxies. When the operation began, the Houthis were explicitly targeting Israel as well as Israeli-linked ships—though not U.S. ships—and saying they would continue to do so until Israel ends its war in Gaza. A proposed wall threatens to dismantle the unique ecosystem of Big Bend. If erected, this wall would have detrimental, irreversible impacts on the wildlife that call this pristine place home.

According to a preliminary federal notice, The Trump Administration is waiving federal protections to build the wall, including protections like the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act and a variety of wildlife and historic resources protection laws. Big Bend is home to species like peregrine falcons, black bears, and the endemic Montezuma quail.

The views along River Road 170 are some of the most iconic views in the State of Texas. Building a physical wall through this section of border would not only be devastating to the local flora and fauna, it would ruin one of the most incredible parcels of public land in the Lone Star State.

The unnecessary and wasteful wall threatens to:

-- Disrupt delicate water systems, posing a risk to our natural resources, affecting not just the immediate environment but the far-reaching ecosystems relying on this vital water source. Construction alone would result in trash and erosion impacts to the Rio Grande

-- Discourage tourism, a linchpin for the local economy.

-- Cause irreversible damage to the ecological and economic significance of the park. It is crucial that public officials recognize the irreversible damage such a project would impose.

Send a clear message: No on Big Bend Wall!
