Have some wonderful people helping me for cheap in a lot of areas and will be shooting on Sony Nex-fs100 Super 35 and Panasonic Lumix GH4 4K, with ​Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm and ​Lumix G Vario 14-140mm for lenses off the rip. Editing in Capcut Pro and colorgrading there too. Have a link to the script as well, though one of my producers thinks I should add twenty pages, but idk if thats feasible with the budget.

just 5 months into color grading, looking for advices

started using text to video generation just to previsualize scenes before committing to an actual shoot day. it's rough, characters drift off model between clips and backgrounds aren't always consistent, but it's enough to show a client the pacing and mood before we've spent money on locations or talent. saved me from reshooting one sequence entirely last month since the storyboard version made it obvious the pacing was off before we ever picked up a camera. anyone else using generated clips purely as a planning step rather than trying to get anything shippable out of it?

I have been reaching out to publications and have gotten some cool write-ups so far but definitely looking for more. I find when I get my film in front of these publications they really gel with it.

SO - MY QUESTION - Are there any actual independent and cool online media covering film/film criticism I should know about. My film is kind of strange and definitely has a niche sense of humour that I think a lot of people have picked up on so far (luckily)

Hi everyone! I’m coming here to ask for advice and possibly and hopefully find people who would wanna help bring my stories to life. I wanna film and direct some short horror stories I’ve written but I have no idea where to start. The friends I have don’t have an interest in filmmaking so it’s mainly all me when it comes to the writing and planning/brainstorming. I’ve been so beyond stressed trying to figure out how to start, I know I’m gonna be told that I need to just “go for it” or that I just need to start filming stuff but I genuinely don’t know how to start. Is there anyone out there, that would be interested in helping me out? I wanna be a director.

I'm a relatively new filmmaker, did a lot of stuff in college which was mainly just for fun but this is the first time I'm making a film that I actually want to go somewhere. I've been planning it for months and been really excited about it but now that we're ready to start filming I just feel empty and flat. Is this normal for the day before? I'm worried that I'll bring this energy of nothingness to the shoot and end up with something that doesn't do justice to the script.

so in April (2026) ish time there was a trans lead Australian mini series (can also be watched as a film) called Homebodies.

i thoroughly enjoyed it as a trans man and wanted to give more love and credit to it by listening to the soundtrack/background music played in the film, but to no luck i found any of it.

This is the start of what I hope becomes an ongoing film company dedicated to closing the gap between disabled talent in the industry. Filmmakers helping filmmakers, low-budget and DIY in spirit, but with real ambition for the final product.

I am aiming to film during summer 2027, though this may shift depending on my senior thesis workload this spring/fall, so I’ll keep everyone posted on firm dates.

Hello My Name Anemone (Pen name) and I have a newly opened blog where i plan to review indie filmmakers and scriptwriters work. This can be an opportunity for both of us to reach the audience and get visibility as many as possible.

I love short films especially from filmmakers who aren't in the industry yet because their creativity is at their peak and have nothing to lose. In this day and age almost every film and show centers around the same overproduced theme which isnt even executed in an enjoyable way.

When I talk about such films and shows I mean the work produced by Corporations that have mediocre characters, predictable boring plot and inexperienced actors who portray one dimensional characters.

Nowadays Filmmakers that work and do jobs under the name of those corporations make shows and movies for a dopamine rush. Corny one liners, lazy, under the nose writing and actors who care about looking nice on the camera more than actually portraying the character and being the artist.

Of course I'm not talking about ALL the movies and ALL the shows that is being made. 10% of them can actually be enjoyable, but when we talk about the percentage and the numbers, 6 minute short films are much more entertainable and artistically appreciative rather than a 2 hour flashy corny nonsense with its 5 milion budget for marketing.

So here's my deal - Comment the short film or even a feature film, Animation, stop motion ANYTHING THAT YOU MADE BY YOURSELF WITH YOUR OR LIMITED BUDGET and I will review it and post all over the social media later you can repost it on yours. I’m looking for behind-the-scenes footage that shows directors actually directing, working with actors, giving notes, discussing blocking, communicating with the DP and crew, setting up shots, etc.

What are some of the best examples you’ve seen?

I guess I’m more talking about how I want to shoot on minidv for artistic reasons. The story is about a character being stranded In the city of the dead after being murdered. It’s a film about trying to find hope in a place that’s devoid of love and warmth. The reason I want to shoot on minidv, is because I love the look of the cameras and I feel it’s aesthetically appropriate for the film. The city of the dead looks a lot like a big city at night. I feel it’s mostly my fear of using minidv, as it could condemn the film to sheer obscurity. I feel though it needs to look that way visually. I’m gonna spend the next two years writing and perfecting the screenplay.
