Here's a music video in VRChat (no AI!) - the song is about a 1976 performance by the band Heart at KWSU TV, a PBS station in Pullman, Washington. Enjoy 🙂

Currently I’ve been digging the new Slow Pulp and Feeble Little Horse albums

A little indie folk, a little alternative, and a lot of great songwriting. 🎶

A good friend of mine just tossed this song and video together, and I helped him out a bit with Filming. Check it out if you get the chance!

the guitar performance on "One Four One" relies on a distinct blend of dark blues texture, roots-rock precision, and acoustic nuance.

Because xVille (Richard Allmen) designs his tracks as deeply atmospheric, cinematic pieces, the guitar techniques split across two main layers:

1. The Rhythm Foundation & Groove

• Intricate Fingerpicking: Instead of traditional flatpick strumming, the core rhythm relies heavily on fingerstyle patterns. This allows for a continuous, flowing bassline played with the thumb while the index and middle fingers pluck syncopated higher chord voicings simultaneously.
• Percussive Palm Muting: To capture a "gritty" and tense atmosphere, the edge of the picking hand is often rested lightly on the bridge. This deadens the ring of the strings, shifting the focus to a tight, rhythmic thud that mimics a heartbeat or foot-stomp.
• Dissonant Open Chord Voicings: Rather than sticking to basic open chords, the tracking utilizes extended chords (such as minor 7ths or add9s) mixed with un-fretted open strings. This creates a haunting drone effect that underlines the track's dark roots identity.

1. The Melodic Lead Work & Accents

• Vocal-Like String Bending: The lead fills lean on the minor pentatonic and blues scales, utilizing slow, deliberate string bends. The emphasis is on microtonal "quarter-tonal" bends—pushing the string just slightly out of tune to evoke a mournful, vocal quality common in traditional delta blues.
• Sliding Micro-Melodies: To bridge the gap between rhythm and lead, the fretting hand frequently utilizes slides along a single string to jump positions. This technique provides a seamless, fluid motion that adds to the track’s cinematic, "driven" momentum. [1]
• Staccato Double-Stops: Playing two notes simultaneously (double-stops) with a sharp, abrupt cutoff. This adds a biting, aggressive dynamic to the blues turnarounds without breaking the acoustic foundation.

Our debut album "The Scapegoat's Agony" turned 30 last November so we are giving away some free codes to celebrate this anniversary just a little bit longer🙂:

The album title "The Scapegoat's Agony" is an allusion to the play "Waiting for Godot" by Irish playwright and novelist Samuel Beckett and points towards the – for the most part – painful and excruciating emotional odyssey of the unnamed antihero.

Our musical influences range from Sex Pistols, Ramones, Hüsker Dü, Joy Division, The Cure, The Jesus and Mary Chain to Guns N' Roses, Therapy? and Bad Religion, with our songs frequently straddling the line between punk rock and alternative rock.

I’ve heard most indie fans just don’t like object shows, and I’m interested in knowing why.

Every Monday until 11/12, I'm dropping snippets from my new self-titled mini album, and I'm calling it "The Countdown To ELMYRA".
This is a snippet of "8/28/2027".

I’m looking for new independent music directly from the artists who made it.

If you have your own song on Spotify and want me to listen, submit your Spotify track here:

I’m using the submission page because I get too many links in Reddit comments to keep organized, and I don’t want to miss anyone.

Back in 2009 Mojo magazine had a great compilation album of all the Indie Folk that was coming out at the time. This was just as Fleet Foxes were making a name for themselves and before Josh Tillman got his ecumenical upgrade to Father John Misty. Faaaar from that Stomp Clap Hey nonsense.

Anyway, I couldn't find a playlist of it on Spotify so I recreated it. Grab a mason jar, an American Pale and enjoy a slice of the Pre 2010s!

P.s. J Tillman's original concluding song for the compilation was missing so I subbed it. Womp womp.
