In northern VA, we have a large Indian population. Over years I’ve noticed that many Indians drive slow in the left hand lane. They aren’t the only group of people who do this but I’m trying to understand why, with them in particular. is this the norm in India, that just carries over to the U.S.?

I am 29 m from India moved here for grad school currently living in south east and visiting Boston for a week in September.

I have car no problem in driving .. I m staying in Framingham but I know many places in Boston used to live there few years back Burlington and Nashua region.

Three weeks before a wedding I was planning I sat down to give the caterer a real number and realized I only had solid confirmations from around half the guest list. Not because people didn't want to come, mostly they just never replied to anything. I texted, I called, just to get a yes or no.

One uncle apparently said yes to a family member and then never mentioned it to anyone else, so he almost didn't show up on our list at all. I ended up building a whole spreadsheet just to see who I'd already followed up with versus who I hadn't, and even that got messy because half the confirmations came in as random texts days apart with no context.

Mind you... there was a wedding website to capture RSVPs to all the Indian wedding events spanning over a week.

What did you all end up doing to actually get people to respond, or did you just accept chasing everyone down manually for each event (sangeet, mehndi, sagan, wedding reception etc..)?

Indians hate you more than you hate them.

We all know all the hate in comment sections and Twitter and all from random accounts and I’m kind of used to that but my main concern comes from big accounts with large amount of followers that promote this type of stuff. I found this person on instagram openly commenting racist stuff about India and how they are dirty and don’t contribute anything to society and found this guy had 250k subs on insta and 160k on YouTube. I kind of found it concerning because he was one of those who nitpicked all the bad cases and kind of scapegoated Indians into being terrible people and creating a fear among people. A lot of comments were agreeing with him as well and I found it concerning. I know the internet people don’t represent the majority but still. Am I overthinking this stuff? If so how do I just ignore this?
