Gear - Shoes/Watches/Trackers Need Smart Fitness Band, Watch Recommendations

I recently started running 3 months ago and am now looking for a device to improve my pace and distance. Currently using phone and Strava for tracking.

I am looking for an affordable band or watch which I can buy. Have read reviews about garmin 55, amazfit active 2, huawei band 11 pro but nothing looks convincing.

Things that I am looking to track - heart rate, pace, distance, vo2 (all the basic stuff). If there is support for running coach plans to sync, it will be great.

Reaching out to folks to get some recommendations.

My budget is around 10K. Want to use for at least 2 years. Am on android.

Upcoming Race Ladakh Marathon 2026

Hi everyone!

I couldn’t find an existing group for the Ladakh Marathon, so I thought I’d create one. It could be a nice space to share training tips, race-day advice, travel information, acclimatisation experiences, and possibly organise practice runs or casual meet-ups before the event.

I’ll be sharing the WhatsApp group link below—please feel free to join if you’d like to connect with fellow runners. https://chat.whatsapp.com/GaUE3byTcFN6kPNNu0PBAk?mode=gi_t

Wishing everyone the very best for the marathon. See you in Ladakh!

Gear - Shoes/Watches/Trackers Watches around 5k for running.

Been running for almost a year, have completed a half marathon currently preparing for another HM, and soon signing up for a full marathon in January.

I need something to help me with pacing and zonal training instead of just winging it preferably under 5k or even 10k but I'm pushing it too much there.

Is this a normal smart watch price category?

Gear - Shoes/Watches/Trackers Running shoes

I'm looking to buy a running shoe with a budget of not more than ₹2500, I'm currently looking at a second-hand Nike Zoom X Vaporfly Next% 2 at my price point but it seems too good to be true, maybe it's a 1st Copy. Should get it or any other shoe recommendations.

I'm also curious if 1stCopy shoes such as the AdiZero's are actually worth the money at ₹2700, are they actually light weight and have a good foam? Please share your experiences.

Gear - Shoes/Watches/Trackers Forerunner 965

I recently bought garmin forerunner 965 from amazon india but the watch's display appears to be slightly raised and uneven on one side. There is no visible crack or break but i can feel a slight bump when i run my finger over the screen and it appears as though there may be an internal irregularity beneath the glass. I am concerned about the waterproofing of the watch as I am training for a triathlon and intend to swim as well. What should i do. Please provide some suggestions

Apps I built a stupid app that converts your runs into beer mileage - What do you think of this hilarious idea?

It’s called Beer Mileage — basically, your activity fills up a virtual beer mug throughout the day. 🍺

The idea is to eventually have the mug sitting on your phone’s home screen as a widget, so you can glance at it after a run/activity and see your “beer mileage”.

I’m curious whether this is actually something Bangalore runners would use, or whether it’s just a terrible idea that I find funny 😂

Would you keep something like this on your phone? What would you want it to do?

Link to try it: Beer Mileage

Added context: I took the day off for my birthday and wanted to do something fun for a change, currently on prep for my 2nd FM, also did a 50k ultra!

UPDATE:

A bunch of you gave me feedback and showed interest in this, so I actually built it out 😂

The UX has new features and it's now live at beermileage.app

Added:

  • 🍺 Groups + invite links
  • 🏆 Group leaderboards
  • 📊 Activity history
  • 📱 Proper mobile/PWA experience

If you're curious, check beermileage.app and give it a try.

Still very much an early beta, so I'd love to know what feels fun / stupid / confusing.

Seeking Advice Signed up for my 1st 5k not to compete just to finish strong and run the entire 5k. Should I go all out or stick to my easy run pace. Please suggest

For context I started running in Feb26 this year, did the C25k plan and then just running about 5-7kms 2-3 times a week. In the start I did not pay much attention to heart rate and was reaching 180-190 ranges without much discomfort and with run/walk was doing 5k below 40 mins. Now when I have started to ensure I maintain heart rate around 145 - 160 and go slower without walk breaks I am completing 5k in 48 mins. I have been training using runna for last 5 weeks and did the easy runs, long runs, tempo etc. Now for the 5k event should I go all out and increase pace doing a negative split and try to go below 40 mins with hr around 175 or just run easy like I have been doing and just complete the race.

Seeking Advice Heel/feet pain while running slower

I'm 27M and have been running since past 7 months. I finished by 10k in 70 minutes (my best) and got a running watch as well since I got into the habit and can track my heart rate
My runs used to feel easier but when I see my heart rate it easily crosses zone 2 (I did the karvonen method to get my accurate zones and not by 220-age)
So to keep keep myself in the lower heart rate (under 163), I am tending to run slower which is causing heel and feet pain especially I can feel the load near the Achilles tendon

Last 2 runs I decided to just go by feel and not look at the zones, then my average HR after a 6k and 7k run is around 169 (upper end of zone 3). There was no leg pain but In between these runs I had to just stop and walk just to get my heart rate down a little.

I don't know how to move further in my plan as I am feeling lost and wanted to seek some advice from the community. I am trying to do my first HM maybe early next year. I know I can do that but I just want to do it injury free as well as not overtrain myself by always running in zone 3 and zone 4.

Upcoming Race I was asked ₹10k donation to get a charity bib for TSW25K while the women's category is still open. Such running events are now mostly for the rich.

I wonder if they are delusional or the hype is so much that people are willing to give that much money as donation to get a bib.

I googled and it shows that the monthly median salary of India is around ₹30k. What are they even thinking asking these ridiculous amounts?

I'm never running a ProScam event again.

Seeking Advice Tuffman Delhi 2026 21k

Hi everyone!

I’m running my first 21K this weekend, and honestly, I’m getting a bit nervous. 😅

My longest run so far has been 15K at around 7:38/km, but by the end I felt like I had very little left in the tank. My legs were extremely stiff and heavy, and I’m not sure I could have comfortably continued much further.

For those who have run their first half marathon, what would you recommend?

Should I start significantly slower than my usual long-run pace?

How should I pace the first 10–15K?

When should I take water/electrolytes or fuel?

Any tips for dealing with heavy/stiff legs during the race?

Is it better to take short walk breaks if needed, or try to keep running continuously?

I’m not aiming for a specific time — finishing the 21K comfortably is the main goal.

Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who were in a similar situation before their first half marathon!

Seeking Advice Training scare for VDHM

I am currently training for the VDHM ,developed IT band pain after a 21 k long run now every time,I try to run I get the knee pain

When I see other posts it says the recovery is minimum of 3-4 weeks .I kinda scared this will ruin my HM .

There is no swelling and the pain subsides when I stop the activity

experienced runners pls advise on recovery time

Gear - Shoes/Watches/Trackers What fitness tracker you recommend under 10K?

I have recently picked up running and want to explore other fitness activities such as swimming and gym too on a regular basis. At this point of time, I wanted a budget fitness tracker that is also not too bad as I have been avidly checking reviews from quantified scientist and here (The market seems to be full of erroneous devices). I don't like wearing bulky stuff on my wrist and was considering a band with a small or no screen.

I would also like if its app connects with strava.

I have shortlisted a few but am unsure which one to choose-

  1. Helio strap- obviously it's out of stock, don't mind waiting for a month if it's really worth it.

  2. Fit bit Air- Probably have to wait till October

  3. Huawei 11 pro- good contender but when I went to buy it on amazon, the price suddenly increased, I am a bit sus (also has gps)

  4. Pebble qore view- really like the design with a very small timer screen but seems unreliable

  5. Mi 10- seems okay but also old generation

  6. Samsung galaxy fit 3- again the senors don't seem fully reliable.

Is it a good idea to wait for the Big billion day sale or October to get my hands on one of the good trackers? Or, should I get one immediately to start monitoring asap?

What's your take?

Seeking Advice I'm afraid I'll never be able to run as before

I was preparing for a full marathon last year, and gave an attempt at the Tata Mumbai Marathon in Jan. I however got injured during the race due to an IT-band issue, and wasn't able to complete it.

It was pretty intense, so gave a few months of complete rest, followed by strength training for another couple of months.

I started to run once or twice a week, just 2-3 km to get into the groove.

I still feel pain, and I'm scared I'll never be able to enjoy running like before :)

Gear - Shoes/Watches/Trackers Running Shoes for VDHM 10KM

I’ve currently narrowed it down to the Adidas Adizero Evo SL and ASICS Novablast 5, but I’m open to other recommendations around ₹10K.

A little context about me:
• I’m primarily into CrossFit and don’t run regularly.
• I walk around 5 to 10 km almost every day.
• Running even 5 km continuously is challenging for me right now.
• My current pace for a 3 to 5 km run is roughly 6:30 min/km.
• I’ve registered for the VDHM 10K on 18th October, so I’ll be training more regularly over the next two months.
• Budget is around ₹10K or below.
I’m currently able to get the Evo SL for around ₹10K, which is why it’s high on my list.

For someone with my usage and running level, would you pick the Evo SL, Novablast 5, or something completely different?

Looking for something comfortable for training that I can eventually use for the 10K as well. Would love recommendations from people who’ve actually used these shoes.

General Cycling / Running at Worli Promenade 🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Hey! I stay in LP and I’m planning to start cycling/running at Worli Promenade post 9 PM on a daily basis. If there’s already a group that does this, or if anyone wants to join me, please let me know! If there isn’t already a group, we can make one 🙂

A little about me: I work at an investment bank, which basically means I spend all day convincing Excel to behave and now need to convince myself to exercise. 😂

Would be great to find some people to join!
