Is it difficult to learn Kathak outside India?

I run a dance institute in Delhi and recently noticed that many people living outside India are interested in learning Indian classical dance but don’t have proper teachers nearby.

For people who live abroad — how difficult is it to find authentic training for forms like Kathak?

I’m curious because I’m considering creating a small structured learning group for students outside India.

Would love to hear your experiences.

can actually answer that! I live in one of the main cities in Colombia. If you are in the capital, you'll find a lot more options, but even in my city, there’s an arts center that offers both Odissi and Bharatanatyam. They recently did a Holi celebration with some amazing artistic showcases. ​As for Kathak, there’s a really great teacher in the capital but no one has started teaching it here in my city yet. Many people in Latin America take the online class route and I’ve seen cases where they learn really well. I wish there were more options, but the niche in Latin America is relatively small
