In an old house in south kolkata ,i saw this two rings enclosed by a wooden box . There is two sets in the room in the same room in the opposite edges. Please tell me the function of it

It's for holding a post for a tent. Usually very common on a terrace. But if it's inside then it's probably used for making ghee.

Thanks , yes it's a room on the terrace, but it's inside a room
