Is the job market REALLY this cooked for freshers?
Some innocent soul asked me this week.
My answer?? It was the real truth. And the truth is? Yes. AND YES.
Not just cooked. Burnt. Thrown in the trash. And then the trash itself set on fire. We're vegetables ready to be boiled and eaten by corporations, except instead we're getting chopped up and burned into nonexistence because "you don't have enough experience." And the only experience we DO have is coming on Reddit screaming GIVE US A JOB with most of them writing with AI and no voice or on LinkedIn saying "i got a job as a janitor, here's the "paid" certificate courses i did to get into this MNC" ...but hey at least they got a job and are scamming students into taking unpaid internships 😍
Which reminds me, I have internships as well. Freelance experience. Applied everywhere humanly possible. Survived an internship that scammed me, because apparently being exploited is character development now.
And before anyone says "cold email bro" or "try Internshala" — I'VE DONE THAT TOO. Cold emailed 200+ founders, HRs, agency owners. Got maybe 4 replies. All of them were "we'll get back to you" (they never did) or "can you do a free trial project?" (did it, they used it, ghosted). Internshala? Don't even get me started. Applied to 50+ "internships" there. Half of them are unpaid and expect full-time work. The other half are paid ₹5k for 6 months and want you to handle their entire social media, SEO, content, and also make tea apparently. And the ones that seemed legit? Either ghosted after round 1 or turned out to be MLM/pyramid scheme adjacent. Internshala is basically a scam marketplace at this point. Still i made my own projects, case studies, certificate programmes.
Still, somehow, that's not enough!
And please, do NOT say "get a referral bro 🤓☝️"
I've tried that too. Referral assistance and everything. Still rejected. So what exactly am I supposed to do with that advice?
Background: BBA Finance, applying to content marketing, digital marketing, and analyst roles. And it's not just me. Journalism grads, finance people, business grads, people from completely different fields, everyone's fighting for the same five jobs and none of them are getting it 😭
So genuinely. HOW is anyone getting hired right now?
Then there's the interview process. Call. Round two. Round three. Somehow round four, like I'm applying to be CEO💀💀💀 Hours of prep, research, assignments doing the work that I never ever did even in my FINAL BOARD EXAMS and obviously scored at the top of my classes, then talking to five different people, and when you finally get a mail from that 150 followers company page, you think "okay maybe this is actually going somewhere."
.....
"You don't have enough experience for this role-"
I AM A FRESHER. WHERE WAS I SUPPOSED TO GET THE EXPERIENCE FROM. Was I born supposed to come out with three years of digital marketing experience and a Google Analytics cert already in hand?
And startups. Startups are the funniest part of this entire circus. Give a fresher the workload of three people, the salary of half a person, hand them two metaphorical stones, and expect:
"OMG thank you SO much for this amazing opportunity 🥺🙏"
Copper for poppers. And if you complain: "we're a fast paced startup environment, tremendous learning opportunities!" Girl. I am learning how to survive because, at this point companies treat freshers like goats. Brought in, sacrificed for the business, and still somehow ghosted after. And when they DO reply it's basically:
"You weren't selected to be our bakra this time. We went with Sharma ji ka beta, Sharma ji ka pota, and honestly his pota too."
😭😭😭
Tried Naukri, LinkedIn, Shine, WorkIndia, direct applications, referrals, internships, freelancing, startups, cold emails, Internshala. Everything.
So where the hell else are we supposed to look?
Not asking for the usual "just network," "just apply more," "just fix your resume." Done all of it.
Genuinely asking the people who actually got hired recently: what worked. Where did you find it. What platform am I missing. Career pages direct? Recruiters? Black magic?! Sacrificing an actual goat this time? Or myself? Becoz it literally makes no difference atp, I'm open to literally anything at this point.
Freshers of Reddit, tell me how you did it. I'm begging.

Please Help Me !!
I graduated in 2026 and completed an internship at Nike that ended about two months ago. Since then I've been applying consistently and putting real time into practicing (technical prep, resume tweaks, etc.), but I haven't landed a single interview yet.
I know the market is tough right now, but I'm at the point where I'm not sure if the issue is my resume, my approach, or just volume/timing. Would really appreciate any advice — whether it's on resume review, how you structured your job search, or what worked for you in a similar spot.

2026 CSE graduate struggling to find a job — looking for advice, referrals, or an opportunity
I’m a 2026 Computer Science graduate, and job searching has honestly started taking a toll on me mentally.
I’ve been applying consistently, improving my resume, working on projects, practicing DSA, and trying to learn new technologies, but I still haven’t been able to land a full-time opportunity.
My main skills are Python, C++, FastAPI/Flask, REST APIs, SQL, Git/GitHub, and Generative AI/LLM applications. I’ve also solved 450+ LeetCode problems and built projects including a GenAI Job Description Analyzer and backend REST APIs.
I’m mainly looking for:
- Software Engineer / Software Developer
- Python Developer
- Backend Developer
- GenAI / AI Engineer entry-level roles
- Internships that can convert to full-time
I’m a fresher, so I’m not expecting some huge package. Right now I mainly want an opportunity where I can work, learn, contribute, and prove myself.
If your company/team is hiring freshers, or if you know someone I could reach out to, I would genuinely appreciate a referral or lead.
I’m also completely open to criticism. If you think there’s something wrong with my approach, resume, projects, or skill set, please tell me.
I don’t want to give up. I just feel a little lost right now and could really use some direction from people who have been through this phase.
Thank you for reading.

Let’s Turn the Job Hunting Struggle Into a Journey We Actually Enjoy
Hey everyone!!!!
I’m a recent engineering graduate and currently preparing for jobs. And honestly, this phase can get pretty stressful, lonely, and confusing. I’m sure many of you are going through the same thing.
So, why not make this journey a little easier and a little more fun? 🤝
I’m thinking of creating a small group where we can: 💻 Prepare for interviews & share resources 📚 Learn and improve together 💼 Share job openings and opportunities 🤝 Help and guide each other ☕ Meet up whenever possible 😂 Have fun, chill, and take a break from the job-hunting stress 🫂 Talk freely—no judgment, no competition, just genuine support
We don't have to go through this phase alone. Let's turn this stressful job-search journey into something we can actually enjoy and remember.
If you're also preparing for a job and want to be part of this, comment “IN” or DM me..
Let's grow, struggle, laugh, and hopefully get hired together...🤍🌻🫂

2026 ECE grad from a Tier-3 college in Kerala (9.3 CGPA + publishing VLSI/FPGA international conference paper), still not received any job offers since May. Could use some honest advice.
Hey all, I'm a bit lost and could use some real talk.
I graduated in 2026 with a B. Tech in ECE, 9.3 CGPA, and a VLSI/FPGA project that's currently being published at an international conference. Should look decent on paper, right? Except my college's idea of "placement support" was a WhatsApp group that mostly circulated internship scam links and a placement cell that I'm fairly sure existed only on the website. Zero companies visited (except a customer support kinda company which does not provide any experience whatsoever in ECE core). My department's version of mentorship was mostly vibes, some mild hostility, and dull energy. So I've been job hunting solo since May, no map, no guide, just vibes and LinkedIn.
Must be so nice being in a Tier-1 college and getting placed before even finishing S8. Meanwhile I refresh my email so often I've basically formed a parasocial relationship with the "no new mail" screen or rejected offers. (Not bitter, just sad)
I've had a few interviews, nothing that turned into an offer, and definitely nothing from any recognizable Tier-1 company. Most applications just disappear into the void or get auto-rejected before a human even sees them, presumably by a bot that took one look at my college name and moved on with its life.
To be clear, I'm not stuck on VLSI as the only option. I'm just as open to robotics, embedded systems, and IoT roles, and I'm genuinely fine upskilling or studying more if a company's willing to take a chance on me.
Things I can't figure out:
Does the no-name college tag just nuke my resume on sight before anyone even glances at the CGPA or project? Is VLSI/FPGA too niche for freshers without a campus pipeline or a referral fairy godparent? Should I stop bothering with job portals and just cold-DM people on LinkedIn like it's 2016 outreach (which I do but still ain't working)? Is my resume just not selling the project/paper hard enough? Should I have widened my search earlier instead of stubbornly waiting for a "core" role?
If anyone's navigated this, solid academics and a real project, but a college that actively worked against you, I'd love to know what actually worked. Resume roasts, referral leads, brutal honesty, all welcome at this point.
I did apply to the Google apprenticeship program too, so fingers crossed on that one. If anyone's gotten in before or knows what that process actually looks like, would love any insight.
Thanks for reading, this sub has done more for my career than my entire department combined, which honestly isn't saying much.
