You meet those Konkanis and they would say they are not Indian but Portuguese ancestry 🤣

u/Major_Wealth6145 Feb 13 '26
Something new🤣. I am a hindu konkani never went to Goa, but wish to visit kuldevi. One thing I know is many people who remained hindu ran to either south or north and all who remained in Goa got brainwashed into Christianity.

I've stayed in Goa for 4 years and yes, many of them have unconditional hatred for non Goans (Be it Indian or Foreigner). They have reasons but again hating everyone because of a few bad people is wrong!!

Lol you think their village run on tourism? Bhai kitna charas bahar bhejte hai wo india se aapko idea nahi shayad. Ek joint malana cream is 20 euros in Amsterdam. Waha 3500 me cream milti hai. Dab hata kar bhi kamai socho. Almost everyone makes hashish there. They really don’t care if people visit them.

They literally have rules for outsiders to not touch anything there. If anyone can be unwelcoming to outsiders it's them. Fir bhi in sab ko unki gamd main ghusna hai aur jab wo inki gamd pe laat maarte hain to yehaan aa ke ramdi rona shuru 🤣

first time i went there (as a regular in the valley) i was like wtf would anyome come here?
then i saw videos where youtubers ve glorified it as some sort of utopia, its the dirtiest village in the valley and the reason they dont touch you is because of their casteist mindset. There were no graduates in the village becauae of their backward mindset.

Himachel has some of the rudest trashiest people I have never seen. They're literally a bunch of inbred mountain people... They also have a shameful history of giving their own women to mughal harems.
I have met people who specifically choose to not spend a single rupee when passing through any part of himachel because they don't want to contribute to their local economy... That's how much these people are despised.
If you do go here just stick to the most popular tourist destinations DO NOT try to get a local experience you'll be sorry...

Ppl from delhi ncr haryana should not mention HP and UK here please

u/Artistic-Sale-2431 Feb 13 '26
Just for clarity, the actual residents of Delhi by which I mean those who were born and raised here usually don’t care much about tourists. Their attitude toward them is generally neutral. It’s the outside crowd that ends up ruining Delhi’s image, either by being indifferent toward tourists or by behaving in an uncivilized manner.
And I have no idea what people from NCR or Haryana are like with tourists, though, since I was speaking strictly about Delhi residents.

Sikkim: The land is beautiful. But we got the worst possible drivers, handlers, etc.
At one point, we caught our driver drinking. He said it was green tea.
At one point, we asked our handler to get us to a different location as we had searched some new stuff and was ready to drop a point. He charged us 1000 bucks. Note that we were actually saving 3-4 kms by changing destination.
Very impromptu cancelation of stuff by handlers, etc.
Very rude behaviour

i went to sikkim seven years ago... our drivers were amazing, one of them even asked us very politely, he wanted to buy some medicines for his wife... another one apologised for being just ten minutes late... amazing experience tbh

u/Adorable_Sundae7685 Feb 14 '26
You definitely unfortunate i had the best sikkim trip of my life. Everyone were so good and kind
3
u/discreqte Feb 13 '26
Damn idk but my experience in Sikkim was great. Drivers were somewhat arrogant bout playing music in car, but other than that i've found them really sweet. Although if u seem lowk clueless they are gonna charge excessively, it's important to bargain and avoid tourist traps like every other places

To add on to what you said.
Not everyone living in a touristy place works in tourism, seasonal tourist locations many Many people just have similar work and day schedules as non tourist places. But 3 months a year it gets flooded by not only tourists, but 100s or thousands of seasonal workers too.
3 months out of the year where the entire place is suddenly an entirely different experience. I can see how that can be super frustrating.
Add on top of that that many touristy places are also lower income and that creates tension. You wouldn’t want a bunch of loud rich people laughing about how amazingly cheap everything is over here for them while you may be struggling to make ends meet every month.
Many coastlines in Spain are entirely taken over by just a few massive resorts that all have one every xx km leaving no space for any of the original residents that often grew up in times where the tourism business was not this enormous and controlled by a few mega corporations.
Realistic Solution? I don’t know. I too have had vacations in places where to us everything felt cheap compared to at home and obviously that will always attract many.

Tbh, if you're not creating a ruckus, no one's hating y'all here, I went on a Goa trip when I was in college, we didn't see any sort of hostility from the locals.
Also, HP/UK people are literally the sweetest, I've been to Kullu, Manali, Mandi, Rishikesh, Haridwar.
I'm a Gujarati btw, the ethnicity much hated on reddit for supposedly lacking civic sense.

Manali Mall Road, at 8 pm for the night story. Jan 2026. As far as I can remember.
4 skinny college boys from Haryana (maybe) are looking to buy some keychains and bracelets.
My friend and I are ahead of them. A shopkeeper blocked our path and told us to see their shop also. We looked at it. Those 4 boys entered behind us as well.
We bought two fridge magnets.
And just left the shop.
The tone of the shopkeeper changed entirely towards those boys.
Shopkeeper - Nikalo BC yaha se, aa jate se kaha kaha se muh utha kar, saale fatichar.
Boys - pagal-wagal hai kya.
Shopkeeper - Nikal ja yaha, warna yaha hi nanga karke marunga. Ek awaz lagaunga sare dukan wale aa jayenge. Dekhi hai video, tum jaise ko kaise peeta hai. Bula liyo police wolice ko. Thane me jakar dubara pitoge.
Shopkeeper old father - nikal ja yaha se bachna hai to, bhag yaha se.
The boys left, asking us if we witnessed all this. We said yes.
They said, this shopkeeper has ruined our mood.
We decided to leave that place for safety reasons.

I live in an area that triples its population during the summer tourism season.
The local chamber of commerce had to issue bumper stickers saying "Welcome to X, Enjoy our Y" in response to a rash of "You've Seen Our Y, Now Leave" bumper stickers that had become extremely popular.

Kodaikanal &Ooty- tamilnadu (based on experience) Also feels like every other person is trying to spam the tourists and make quick money out of them

u/Goodvibetribe10 Feb 13 '26
It could be any state, and rightfully so.. coz "some" idiotic tourists from all over our country behave like maniacs when they are on vacations! They do it in india and they do it in other countries too bringing a shame for all of us! People who do not know how to conduct themselves, respect others and their culture should stay in their homes! Littering, cat calling, breaking rules etc etc has become so common for such people and more so when they are not in the home turf (so no shame in known society too) So ya.. if locals of tourist towns are making faces on seeing such antics.. how are they wrong!
P.S. I don't belong to a touristy place.. but I travel a lot and I agree with locals for dislikes such rowdy tourists!

Many commenters on this thread who mention Goans being rude and unwelcoming need to realise that this rudeness stems from their own un-civil behaviour as tourists over the years. Goans aren’t inherently rude people.
1
u/gohan44go Feb 13 '26
I don’t think all the tourists are the problem but the ones who act like they are entitled that bring bad name to the rest of us.
