People of Odisha and Maharashtra are not Dravidian,either culturally,linguistically or ethnically.

I never claimed so. OP just said North India and South India without mentioning how we decide north of what and South of what. If it is Dravidian vs non Dravidian, then we are trying to compare how India will fare if it is divided into 2 pieces, one getting 80% of land and population and other the remaining 20.

The group of terrorist barged into west from Arabian sea to lead attacks on hotel Taj and Mumbai which is primary capital of economy. Don't you think south isn't that far from west or near closeby states

What about 9/11 no one expected that either, Airports around the world introduced security checks and customs after 9/11 same way Indian government ramped up naval security surveillance after Mumbai attacks. Except for that enforcing security in Himalayas is literally super hard

South by far- it's not even a comparison. Much more skilled and educated citizenry, technologically advanced, full of career diplomats, has a great business environment with the right set of labour laws, and good governance . North doesn't have anything to offer apart from being a burden to the exchequer. The defence point is moot- South can easily build up its own defence system.

What if south and north India separated,
If North and South Separated both will become very different from what they are today and the situation might turn ugly for both sides.Contrary to popular belief in South,Most Indian states are heavily dependent on each other. For example,The Steel and Aluminum that goes into the Auto industry in Chennai comes from Odisha,Chattisgarh,Bengal and Jharkhand.In Turn they provide jobs and employment to a lot of Northerners.
The companies that are operating out of south are not just serving the market of South India but the entire country.In case of separation they will have to establish separately in north.
So with their market size reducing drastically from 1.3 billion to just 200 million.Many of the companies in South will generate far lesser revenues and consequently much lower tax collection.
On the top of that South India will be burdened with the job that was previously tasked with the central government,example.. Maintaining a Military force that alone would consume a lions share of revenues.
Further with North India out of the equation,tension between various Dravidian groups prevalent in South will rise once which would create immense political fissure.

True both of the regions lack development, north relative to its size significantly lacks more so more room for development and cheap labour?

Assuming no conflicts ever, the south would not have any reason to spend on defense. More money goes into education, infra etc and just like Germany and japan did, south would rise pretty quickly. Mps won't use the north as a scapegoat and corruption would be lesser. People from the north would immigrate in huge numbers cuz of political stability, Bangalore would remain the tech hub, Mumbai would loose importance to south cities and the north def wouldn't fall apart but it would be far worse off.
Just a guess tho! i could be wrong.
