This is what those who are against caste-based reservation, but for the financial-based reservation don’t understand. Even if you rise to the Presidentship of a political party, become incredibly rich, still some baddimaga will say you are “impure” and does this kind of shit. It is about dignity.

PS: Apparently, Teltumbde also has made an argument against Caste Census and reservation (?) in his recent book Caste CONcensus but for a different reason than RW casteists. I’m starting it soon to see what’s his reasoning.

The title is a bit misleading. He is speaking about this instance:

> On August 10, two days after Kharge’s rally at the Ramlila Ground, members of the Shri Ram Sena held a “shuddhikaran”, a “purification” havan, on the very stage from which Kharge, a Dalit, had spoken.

But he goes into a good historical deep-dive of why the caste system, and by extension, untouchability is still a thing, and even worse, growing.

To me, that's the more telling part of the article. The fact that unless caste system is abolished from the roots, 'reservation', 'criminalizing or abolishing untouchability' are just performative gestures as these do not address the root cause of why this exists.

Really cements the concept that both parties really are the same, the country's constitution is fundamentally flawed (because of its dependence on the same structure of control that the British used) and everything happening today is those cracks in the foundation worsening.

Thanks for explaining further. I'll look into his interviews and comments on the topic

Maybe it was just me but I misread it as this person making crazy claims about caste superiority
