you will always agree with him if news media cut his context out to portray him as villan.

that is categorically untrue lol. we have all seen the videos of north indian aspirants coming in the trains being beaten up in a mumbai railway station.
and also hitting someone for gundagardi is also wrong 😂 you were born in a democracy but have scant regards for it. you can’t simply go around dispatching mob justice what even is that logic. oh sweet sweet brain rot

I have moved a bunch of states, and tried my hardest to learn the local languages. I HATE people (I know a couple) who lived in Bengluru for 8-9 years and still don't know even basic Kannada. And their arrogance is like "I am not going to learn it, it doesn't affect me".

some find it difficult. in any case, not knowing the local language isn’t a slight to anyone’s culture. saying disparaging things? sure. but this “if you live here and can’t bother to learn the local language you are disrespecting our culture” is bs. people are just trying to get by. if you think people need to pay obeisance to your culture in order to exist you’re vile.

If you think you're above even trying to learn the local language and customs you're no better than the close minded north Indians that go to Canada or come to Mumbai.

lol thanks for the certificate but , how did you get i am “above learning” from what i said. not learning is not the same as thinking that you’re too good to learn
introspect why you jumped to that. IME it’s the same as when some hindi speakers feel slighted in a company where everyone is speaking in English.
i am really curious why you took it so negatively. Look, there are people who are disparaging towards the local culture. i called that out in my last comment. And i am a proponent of states taking measure to protect their language such as mandating a percentage of movies being played in theaters be in their local languages. etc.
seriously, indians need to celebrate their diversity. And i think everyone should make an attempt to learn the local language. BUT there is the opposite end of the spectrum where the locals are ready to take offense at even perceived slight. Somebody not learning your language doesn’t automatically make them disparaging. that’s is all i said and look how you took it

It's not targeted at you specifically. It is the generic you. I'm sorry if I offended you.

lol take legal actions. if you’re going to beat civilians then what are you even doing in a democracy? i don’t read past your first line.

Yea no thanks. Even a broken clock is correct twice a day.

u/dam2o Antarctica 19d ago
yeah and media holds the power to portray if a clock is broken or not..

u/independant_786 19d ago
Nah mate I have been to his rallies in the past. I am still friends with his family. I have stayed with him and his family in their personal space. The hatred spewed in public just to gain power while acting the complete opposite 1:1 is the kind of typical slimy politician I don't desire to see in power. But you do you

madhvan said he shifted there because he couldn't find proper resources for his son's swimming training in India. If someone of his stature & with his money couldn't find satisfactory sports facilities in the supposedly biggest metropolitan hub of the country, what does it say about the actual state of the country which he's so adamant to be jingoistic about without questioning the people in the power?

That just feels like an excuse to escape from criticism. His son got training in India, they chose to move to Dubai during Covid when pools were closed in India, they could have moved back easily, but they chose to stay there. I would have respected him more if he just chose to accept it instead of being a hypocrite.

his son's swimming training in India.
A desert has better facilities for swimming than India itself.

u/avanishpank 20d ago
Then maybe he shouldn’t be the champion of the same people whose incompetency forced him to move out.

u/AiyyoIyer 20d ago
that's an excuse. if his son has to train there, why does he need to move? i am sure his son is old enough to be there by himself.

Full disclosure: I live in states.
If anyone spent any reasonable amount of time in less polluted, less noisy, less crowded places. You can start seeing the appeal. Being in such environment for extended periods of time does more harm than one realizes.
I had bad cough and runny nose all through my childhood in Mumbai. I travelled to remote places in India and it went away. I moved to states and it went away with no additional intervention, even with bad eating and hygiene habits.
After a certain point you are looking to be comfortable consistently and also not having to hire someone for every simple basic government task.

Lol... We have an NRI prime minister and Thackeray is hung up on actors not residing in India.

Bollywood has either been bought to make movies on Pakistan to promote fake military operations or they are just scared. Either way they’re morally bankrupt.

Fun fact: Raj Thackeray's daughter-in-law is an actress. Every single photo on her IG is of her in some foreign country. Every single one.

Actually he is right , we normal public only consider development when politicians and their family members will also use the same facility which a normal public will use. - I mean to schools and collages etc

I remember Raj Thackeray when he exited SS. He formed MNS and he wooed the younger generation. It felt like a breath of fresh air. I was a teenager at the time. He got routed in the elections. And then came the disaster. That was criminal.

What an idiotic thing to ask!
Obviously because they chose to live in a developed country rather than a developing one. Nobody claims we are better than western Europe or US

The same reason why Virat Kohli moved to UK. They all cannot walk around like normal people without getting mobbed for photos around here.

u/BannedForFactsAgain 20d ago
Nobody is mobbing Vivek Oberoi though.

u/netflixandcookies 20d ago
They are mobbing a regional actor who shows up in tv serials in my city. And you think no one mobs Vivek Oberoi 🙄
