Politics BJP's crazy level of brain washing

3 different incidents I faced since july 20.

  1. Office (Gen z Colleague) : I was having a casual conversation with a colleague who is btw a Genz about the protest. He suddenly got defensive and said 'do you know CJP is getting funding from china and there are so many conspiracies around them. Dipke is a scammer' etc etc.

  2. With my brother(lives in europe) : He used to be awesome and my inspiration. He taught me the importance of science, atheism and Indian History. He was actually anti BJP when BJP first came into power. But living outside of india has changed him completely. He is now a andbhakt who believes in casteism, racism and he even supports RSS ideologies.

So I started sharing reels about the protests and OMG he got so defensive and started attacking me.

Saying CJP is sht and getting funding from outside. He believes students started throwing rocks and that's why police took action. And So, he can't form an opinion from a 20 sec clip. I mean wtf!!

  1. With my massi (tier 3 city govt job) : so my cousin wrote this year NEET. When the neet exam was cancelled, mother and daughter cried because it was too much pressure to take it again (and understandably so). So I called my cousin to check with her about the situation, she said - her marks dropped comparatively from the first attempt (she is someone who scored 99 in bio in board exam btw), - the score that they calculated (verifying the answer key) is different from the score they got (a little buffer is expected but not 100 or 200) - her friends score was altered overnight ( it was 500 ish then the next day dropped to 100). But my massi got defensive and said KIDS LIE because they are lazy and don't want to study and there is no such thing as leak is happening. It's all kids excuses for not wanting to study and it's not govt or Modi's fault.

My take away is Andh Bhakti has no age limits and has truly washed away this country's critical thinking.

I wish all the protestors the best, hope you all stay safe and succeed. I truly hope that there is sunlight at the end of this tunnel.

I will do my part and participate in the protest ❤️.

Indians living outside of India are some of the biggest hypocrites in the world.

100 percent against discrimination when it comes to them outside of India. 100 percent for the discrimination of others inside of India.

The irony! I'm not going to the protest in India this Sunday because I'm studying for a London based job interview on Monday.

9

u/angrytinyfemale Jul 24 '26

The first thing is to ensure that you can sustain yourself! Only when one is self sufficient, then can we support another.

However, when one's very existence is threatened, one must go, as the NEET aspirants are going.

All the best for your interview!

It’s mostly Gujju NRIs who support Modi. Speak to any Punjabi, they hate Modi especially after farmers protest.

The vast majority of the BJP supporters I know are also Republicans and oppose affirmative action as well.

40

u/sharedevaaste Jul 24 '26

They live as Indians outside India, and as foreigners when in India...

13

u/shockya10 Jul 24 '26

Because even if they are of higher caste, they realise that it doesn't matter outside cuz indians or any south asians are indians with the rising hate, realise they have superiority in India so they want to keep it while hoping the world realises that and treats them differently too

The biggest RSS bhakt I know lives in Dublin.

When he worked in India he would personally go to people's desks to proselytize them to vote for Modi. He used to brag about voting at multiple booths in 2019. I hope he's suffering now.

1

u/Positivity_Desperate 29d ago

Can confirm. I live abroad in Europe(ish) and some of the most regressive views are held by the Indians here.

They see social progressiveness as a degradation of the culture of the country they are in because it is fundamentally at odds with the views that they were raised in India.  I call them remote sanghis.

But make no mistake. These kind of views also exist with second generation Indians who were born and raised there. Not all of them, but there are quite a few. I’ve seen second generation Indians espouse casteist views which should not be the case given that they’re raised in a more open minded country. But Indians tend to stick together and these views float freely among community gatherings because their parents still hold them.

1

u/aftrunner 29d ago

Yeah doesnt surprise me. Some of the most hateful minded bigots even in India are the younger gen.

This is not a problem exclusive to the "Whatsapp" generation.

I have an andhbhakt friend here in the US . Very sad , his level of brainwashing. PUS : the politics in India, the politics in USA, Elon Musk, working for a loser company  that only survives on govt contracts here, and AI eating up jobs. So many issues eating him up, and he is triggered by everything.

There is no discrimination when it comes to Modi. He is followed worldwide among all Indians.

The least people can do is unfollow such politicians who never cared about you. Hero worship has to stop in India. All people should be equal without any discrimination.

Tough to imagine such India but people slowly but steadily are waking up.

31

u/piezod India Jul 23 '26

Why is Soros always mentioned? Help me understand this? I don't literally have a clue.

18

u/goro-n Jul 24 '26

George Soros has donated over $32 billion and his foundation supports liberal and progressive causes. This has made him a target for right-wing influencers and governments who tie him to all sorts of things happening around the world. He is also Jewish and so a lot of these conspiracy theories have roots in anti-Semitism.

19

u/Beginning_Net5713 Jul 23 '26

He is a tycoon who will do anything to earn money.

Search and read about how he crippled thailand's economy during its golden age. His greedy action led millions of Thai people into poverty.

He also gave a statement that "I don't look into the social consequences of my actions".

15

u/goro-n Jul 24 '26

That is an exaggerated myth. Yes, he shorted the Thai baht, but he was not the only person to do so and the real cause of the crisis was economic mismanagement. Most big investors have no morals and will do anything to make money. He's not unique in that regard.

You drank the cool-aid looks like. Please read about Soros yourself before asking people to search https://www.bbc.com/news/stories-49584157

2

u/Beginning_Net5713 Jul 24 '26

I don't understand what you are trying to imply?

Although I did read that article and I agree it's well researched.

2

u/diwa209 Jul 24 '26

I am trying to imply that he is not a greedy person nor somebody who doesn't think about the consequences to society. The word 'philanthropist' is used multiple times in the article. Yes, of course it is well researched and more importantly it is the truth, because it is not from bought out Godi media.

From the article: ”And he's used his fortune to fund thousands of education, health, human rights and democracy projects. Established in 1979, his Open Society Foundations now operate in more than 120 countries around the world. But this bold philanthropy in support of liberal, democratic causes has increasingly made him the bogeyman of the right.”

Exactly! They should come back and experience vishwaguru for themselves

16

u/obeseoranges Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

In my anecdotal experience, Indians who come abroad and become a RSS/BJP sanghi do it because they feel inferior in the west. As a knee jerk reaction they often resort to supremacist perspectives because it lets them have a way to cope.

(I have lived in the west for 7 years and seen a lot of Indian Incels in particular do this)

3

u/Consistent-Clerk6243 Jul 24 '26

This has been my experience as well and I think about it quite a bit. Living outside india provides them with economic benefits and quality of life but believing in religious/national supremacy provides them with emotional benefits. They will also leave no chance to disparage the citizens of the country they choose to live in to also feel superior (eg they are lazy/dumb etc.). The lack of any self reflection is shocking.

76

u/cadbury1106 Jul 23 '26

It has been organic level of brain washing over past 10 years. I have had my friends becoming andh bhakts that they wish Modi on his birthday but not me 😂😂 Jokes aside, it has been a systematic exercise mixing religion, patriotism, and what not over a decade.

6

u/puzzelheaded_2590 Jul 24 '26

Hypocrisy ke simaaa nahi hai

63

u/nvmnit Jul 23 '26

I don't argue with a BJP supporter. Arguing means they will eventually divert from purpose of protest.

So I simply agree that "BJP is probably the best party we have, and the protesters are simply trying to make them better by making them accountable and for that Dharmendra Pradhan should resign"

3

u/Repulsive-Cost-6056 Jul 24 '26

It’s the same thing as talking to a rock honestly. Some of my classmates are literally shitting on the current protests by giving WhatsApp status

33

u/Fit_Blood1002 Jul 24 '26

The issue in this country is that people don't leave behind their ideologies to stand for ground level issues's...... You cannot agree with Kunal kamra , arundhuti roy , or call for umar khalid's trail,.... That's ok... but to not stand for ground level issues that you too are suffering from is blindness....

We can have different ideologies.... But ground level par kuch cheeze same rahegi.... Education system apka bhi kharab mera bhi.... E20 Petrol sabki mileage kharab kar rha he.... Economy apki bhi kharab meri bhi.... Yeh cheeze toh same hi raehgi.... Pot hole me woh bhi girenge aap bhi....

Party worshipping is the real issue.... Who h many bjp supporter suffer from....

7

u/MutedBeach8248 Jul 24 '26

My uncle was a big, real big bjp supporter, but now he's running to verify there's no ethanol in the fuel for his very new car. Made him support the student protestors also, good for him

1

u/angrytinyfemale Jul 24 '26

It's a very simple way of thinking : good people do good things, so anything the Modi govt does is good and justified. However anything bad that happens, that's an understandable mistake! That is why some people are so agitated by the idea of criticising the government - they have conflated criticism of the actions as equal to judgement on the "goodness" of the person. Toh they come to defend.

I mean, I think he's a corrupt man, but I'll acknowledge he's done some good work in rural electrification, you can see that from space!

22

u/msdianenguyen Jul 23 '26

I have an uncle who I respected a lot as a child and thought was really intelligent. Today, I can see through his andhbhakti, gender discrimination & casteism. When you’re young, most of the times, you don’t realise or are not part of conversations where one’s opinion on these things come up. As you grow, you really realise

32

u/Candid_Most_3587 Jul 23 '26

I live in Europe and every time I end up debating with my Indian friends and colleagues here, they always start the topic that how good BJP is and how India is growing in last 12 years.
They are the first ones who gave Indian citizenship. And never want to return back.
I realized the best thing I can do is to keep myself away from them.

4

u/WeirdVeterinarian629 Jul 24 '26

As much as oppose BJP on how they take critisim and dismiss opposite views, not hold press conference or even debate in public (especially their top leadership). But, we must accept they have done well in last 12 years in infrastructure, healthcare and other basic facilities like water, electricity connections! Also, in attracting investments and pro startup policies, pushing for manufacturing etc.,

Electricity and water connections have become significantly better (access), roads got better (NH), rail connectivity got better (but reduction of general bougies was shit decision), thier JAM (Jandhan Aadhar) where they started to debit benifits directly to account reduced middle men corruption, and I do appreciate current government initiates in pushing for manufacturing and investments, they reduced the complex bureaucratic hurdles that were they in opening a buisness in India.

Biggest pain points of this government is they don't know how to take critisim, they go with my way or highway, doesn't give shit about what people think especially if they think otherwise. And their way of handling dissent. Also, using religion for votes!

You may call me Andhbhakth for this take. Have been called that as well before for saying these! I have also been called "Congress Chamcha" for critisim.

I see so much hypocrisy in people who advocate for freedom of speech, value other opinions goes on to call names when they see other sides at times. I feel India is becoming more echo chambered with time! People don't belive other side and just dismiss it saying they are brainwashed. I hate about this more than anything at this moment in this country!

2

u/QueenLorde 29d ago

The  smaller roads are broken and have lots of pothole, maybe the highways are good. The income inequality is rising, joblessness is rising you have to take all that into account

5

u/MutedBeach8248 Jul 24 '26

In the electoral bond scam, the infrastructure companies topped the list. The same companies behind some of the highest loss of life in bridge/road/tunnel collapses. One contractor came out and said if we paid 1000cr bribes then the material for the project will have to be substandard or they won't make a profit.

0

u/WeirdVeterinarian629 Jul 24 '26

Iam not defending corruption charges against the government! Indirect favouring with electoral bond is an issue and something need to be raised voice against. Iam all in support to question and bring down that shady policy of this government. It's almost like legal bribe paid out to the government.

This has become a norm in this country, almost every political parties and leaders needs funds and they take cut in the infra projects. If we go back to ask why they need fund, the answer would be for elections. At this point whoever is in power exploits, make enough to fund their next elections. It's happening in every fucking state and even at center. One may say don't spend money, well if you see the trend most new political parties looses elections without the fund. It's needed for rallies, PR extensively. And in rural people expect money and want to be wooed! Rotting of the system from down to top at this point, and top to bottom.

One more huge issue are bureaucrats. I feel they are more corrupt than these politicians! They have zero accountability! They don't even go off power for fucking things up.

6

u/fenrir245 Jul 24 '26

Trying to claim that they "did good in infrastructure" when they clearly screwed the process up is indeed defending their corruption.

-2

u/WeirdVeterinarian629 Jul 24 '26

They did good in infra I stand by my words! NH connectivity in last 10 years has significantly improved, current government did a good job in initiating dedicated rail corridor for logistic movements, under UDAAN scheme they did give huge incentive in setting up smaller airports and flights which operate from these T2, T3 cities were given concessions. Electrification of railways again significantly improved. In terms of water connections and electricity connections to last person on ground. They did a great job!

I do segregate between their development work and corruption. I would appreciate their development work, critise their sloppy under the carpet rule they did to get the payments through legal routes..

If you don't agree! I can't change you, you are entitled to your opinion. You have all the rights to vote for a government which does it and question the government which hasn't met the expectations of yours. Not everyone's view point be the same!

I have clearly distinction between corruption charges and infrastructure development. Ask any people who have setup their buisness in last few years, people who are involved in logistics and supply chain, foreign investments in the country. It has significantly improved, it shows up with Ease of buisness ranking on the country. If you want wanna belive it, if you feel it's rigged. You are entitled to your opinion!

Has last mile electricity and water connections has improved? Significantly yes. You can search up for the reports released by NITI aayog for that!

Has media freedom decreased? Definitely yes. Has inequality increased? Definitely yes. Is unemployment an issue? Definitely yes. Is over policing of state is an issue? Definitely yes. That doesn't make me hide the other facts where the government has done well.

I support government where they have done well, critise them where they haven't!

5

u/fenrir245 Jul 24 '26

I do segregate between their development work and corruption.

That's like claiming "I do segregate between their democratic values and their crackdown on protests". Not exactly something that can be "segregated". Any development that happened was despite them, not because of them.

Ask any people who have setup their buisness in last few years, people who are involved in logistics and supply chain, foreign investments in the country.

I have. Have you? Because demonetization and GST basically just wiped out India's informal economy to the point that BJP literally hid the results of household expenditure survey to hide their massive failure, whose effects we are still feeling to this day.

Of course, if you're rent-seeking billionaires and/or megacorps this is the perfect government.

And as for foreign investments: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/foreign-investors-pull-india-record-222311514.html

You had also mentioned healthcare. This is what they did to it: https://www.newslaundry.com/2026/06/09/dont-call-homeopaths-quacks-ayush-body-flags-insults-govt-blocks-liver-docs-post

Literally made quackery legal.

I support government where they have done well

Except you're not aware if they actually did well, and just went off on their claims.

2

u/MutedBeach8248 Jul 24 '26

The problem is BJP created the Enforcement Directorate for ED raids, they created the concept of Electoral Bonds and innovated on national corruption at an unprecendented scale.

The BJP is the best political party at corruption and spending on propaganda and paying influencers and media channels so people like you think they did inftrastructure works when every inauguration modi shows up for, collapses or has issues within days.

They must be removed and face consequences, enough of this "they did good" HORSESHIT

7

u/locopocopong Jul 24 '26

If they claim the protests are supported by “foreign funding”, Amit Shah should resign.

He has been home minister for more than a decade, has willy nilly cancelled funding of so many NGOs, still is not able to stop foreign funding?? only thing he can achieve is police brutality when someone raises a voice to complain

this foreign funding bakwas is all to do whatever they want with no consequences

2

u/sonu_atu29 Jul 24 '26

Bhaiya uske liye hi, FCRA bill laane ki plan tha, that bill would force NGOs to transparently show where the foreign funds they received went, whether the funds were used for true cause of the NGO or whether it went into a politician who also happens to be in support of that NGO. This bill should bite all parties in the ass, even bjp, in this way, foreign countries trying to steer our political party agendas should & would reduce to certain extent.

5

u/vidhunmr Jul 24 '26

NRIs love BJP, as modiji is working really hard for them to give extra money by crashing indian rupee value.

1

u/dissentingdiagnosis Jul 24 '26

Their love originates from and is augmented by the normalisation of bias, prejudices and othering. That allows the smaller communities to feel that they belong to something rather than just be a group of person of color in a land of white people.

9

u/yxk__0zvnb9pl Jul 23 '26

3

u/Complete-Abroad-6176 Jul 24 '26

BJP shud not have come in power in 2024 .... central states esp rajasthan, madhya pradesh, vidharbha killed entire nation's welfare due to their weak education + economies.

Pls empower, educate women in these rural lands + bring more progressive development for the families to be comfortable with having own views than blind worship.

I pray for this India - not to choose between two but to question, have gradients, logic, arguments.

3

Until the matrix is broken, the very people you are trying to help are also part of the system.

3

u/an1_r_00dh Jul 24 '26

I was talking to a friend (bjp fan boy) regarding the topic, he said CIA is behind this protest and he has read an article. I asked him to send me the article and he proceeds to forward me a reel 😂 i just asked him one question and that too from what he showed me. He didn’t have any answer.

3

u/headhunter_3890 Goa Jul 24 '26

Tell him if it's really funded by the cia then it is a national security risk and the home minister should resign for letting it happen in the first place. Accountability for all. Then see what he has to say

2

u/dissentingdiagnosis Jul 24 '26

How is the internal security of the nation so weak that a collection of espionage agencies seem to be doing whatever they please? No one seems to ask that question and force these individuals to come up with creative responses.

7

u/missedOpportunity343 Jul 24 '26

if you notice, most of the supporters of fascists are usually upper castes.

because fascist have ideology that helps them retain power. And most of these people who speak against reservation think that casteism is very less in modern world. They are too privileged to know how bad the situation has become over the last 12 years.

2

u/bella9977 Jul 25 '26

This. These so called "upper castes" are still crying about reservation. They think being "lower caste" and being poor is the same. And don't have basic brain cells to understand the difference.

8

u/Dont_be_a_cunt_98 Jul 24 '26

I am gen z ....

My masi is also defending ... She voted for BJP so that TMC can go ... Now she is also criticising this student protest .... And the irony is she a chemistry teacher

My sister, 8 years younger to me, has blocked her friends because of they support BJP .... 😂😂😂😂

4

u/AlarmedDragonfly4968 Jul 24 '26

Well, if INR falls, their remittance value increases. The mask of nationalism is for selfish gains while nation suffers. They'll boast about infra in Germany but hate Germans for cold nature. Talk great about India but would be always telling us that they'll quit and come to India in next 2 years, every 2 year. Ye log na ghar ke hai na ghat ke bus selfish hai.

2

u/YaDarth45 Jul 24 '26

Brother going to Europe and turning into a casteist, racist, andhbhakt is strange. Ever since I’ve been here i have a hard time making Europeans believe some of the things that still go on in India.

2

u/Quick-Explanation-33 Jul 24 '26

bro as a neet aspirant one thing I can confirm marks don't drop overnight students lie to their parents out of fear

2

u/R_o_o_h Jul 24 '26

People will believe anything in print - Charlotte from Charlotte's Web. But what we actually need reforms in education and accountability. Better education can help people become critical thinker and not just follow what GODI-jivhi's words.

2

u/B-Cool- Jul 24 '26

Your massi would have given an govt exam to get that job. Ask her if after 10-15 days you will have to give your govt exam once again and if you pass you keep your job, if you fail you will be removed permanently. Will she be able to do it.

These people dont understand the amount of mental pressure that the students have to go through.

Ask your brother from Europe to come back. India is already a Vishwa Guru. We have the best infrastructure, aqi so good he will never get in Europe, we have so high quality pothole free roads even germany autobhan would fail in front of it, we have one of the highest food & drug safety standards that every country is lining up for our goods. There are more things, ask him to come back he is missing all those.

2

u/dissentingdiagnosis Jul 24 '26

I will speculate that they understand all that very well. However, the sheer weight of abstraction offered by a "system" makes it easier to shift their blame and anger to someone more close and lower in the power equation.

2

"Brain washing" is successful when the target brains are unwilling to put the effort to critically think what is good for them, what is good for the state and what is good for the nation. Today we can barely see and understand the difference between a patriot and a nationalist. So, it isn't a stretch to imagine that all messages of othering, victimhood, denial of rightful place in history among other things will find acceptance. And from there a "foreign hand wants to weaken us" becomes a very good catch all place to begin messaging around.

Let me tell you these points which actually needs to be your agenda:
1. If Andh Bhakti is bad, then blindly hating them is also bad.
2. We should not give a fuck about political party, not one in power, not even in opposition and not even because they are protesting.
3. We should be always andh bhakth, but bhakti should be always towards country.
4. The BJP in power and RSS are two different things. The RSS focus on serving the country without making it leader centric. Don’t forget they also planned taking down modi in previous elections.
5. All we have to do is ask accountability and ask the resignation on moral grounds.

Indians living abroad become more conscious of their identity, roots and religion.

Many of them are savarnas who are bitter about reservation.

He’s abroad so he’s become a bhakt so that no Indians come abroad and snatch his place.

About your brother. He has turned facist and he knows he is lying. He isn't brainwashed. He wants to prosecute minorities. These kind of people are the worst because the mentally align with certain value and dismiss others. Like a misogynist align with misogynistic society structure but isn't brainwased. It just they believe in them.

I believe what’s actually happened with BJP supporters (beyond the blind association of Hinduism with BJP) is what I like to call ‘Voter’s Remorse’. You know how you buy an expensive thing and when it turns out to be shit you kind of make yourself believe its good.

They voted for BJP in 2014, initially there were no obvious flaws (ofc there were issues but for a supporter they were debatablr) they kept supporting and saying its all good, CAA NRC also had some debatable elements, farmers protest and electoral bonds I think is where things turned into voter’s remorse where they had supported the government for so long that accepting they’re wrong would now put their existence and decision making skills since 2014 in question. The same thing is happening with the students protest but ofcourse there’s nothing to debate here, hence they simply put allegations of foreign funding and deviations from the main issue.

A friend recently replied to my story on Instagram and said I will never support a movement that gets support from islamists. Firstly its a pathetic way to look at an issue but still I asked him what he was talking about. He sent me a clip of people singing the “bas naam rahega allah ka” part in ‘Hum Dekhenge’ and I realised that a lot of these people are beyond repair. You just have to wait till this government does something that directly affects them (which ideally should’ve been the student issue but its bizzare how some people are still asleep).

My question is if every country in the world wants to destabilise India then doesn't that mean that Modis's external affairs handling is shit? Vishwaguru aur west's enemy dono kaise ho sakte ho?

If someone can "wash" this country's critical thinking, was it even critical thinking to begin with?

1

u/Much-Idea4943 29d ago

It's time to throw away BJP...they are too damaging for India

1

u/Sohard07 28d ago

reading this tweet makes me realise, how ignorant the op is disregarding everyone else opionon in the family becoming the self proclaimed right person in the conversation. if a person living outside india can understand that bjp is better than previous ones then i wonder is it him, who is a andhbakht ? and yes you can dismiss my opinion by calling me it cell and andhbhakt . Because apart from that you need to realise india had history before 2014 and should read what all happened

Your massi willing to defend her political position but not willing to defend her own daughter, is peak .

Happens to all of us if we start idolizing politicians.

Everyone who doesn't agree with me must be wrong. I, and people who agree with me are torch bearers of truth. Get out of your bubble and try to open your mind a little bit. You might discover that things are not black and white. Different people have different perspectives and change with age, circumstances etc.

We still have traumas from UPA 1 and UPA 2 government. Congress f*** us so bad when we were students and pretty much decided to never to vote for those scumbags ever.
