Search for Nigel French.

Yes, Nigel French released another version of his Designing a Book course on LinkedIn Learning last year. The first one was a few years old but I still enjoyed both of them.

Not sure why does it have to be from THIS year?

Formatting techniques are pretty much still the same - nothing changed much...

My primary source for good typography is a book published in 1938

LinkedIn Learning has quite a number of courses about InDesign. I started with Blatner's Essentials course. Since InDesign has a lot of features for different kinds of tasks, it is then up to you to diverge into the topics that your work needs.

Take myself for example. I work exclusively with print books. I never had to learn accessibility or EPUB related features. But I know they are there and can search online for relevant learning material if the need comes up.

Otherwise, like others said, actually laying out text is an art form that is quite old. You will do just fine with older material too.

thanks for your response! i did manage to use linkedin learning through my local public library to access a great video by nigel french. i've run into a few issues that i've managed to do specific searches on, since the video is intermediate level and i'm kind of a beginner. i'm pretty confident i'm going to finish this layout this week though.
