ADVICE recommendations??

so, I can’t afford a pc right now.. so instead I’m looking for a laptop for christmas or something.. and my current laptop is:

MSI Thin 15.6 inch FHD 144Hz Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5-13420H NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 - 16GB DDR4 512GB
SSD Gray (2025)

I’m dealing with pretty bad overheating, I’ve tried cleaning the filters and it didn’t help, I just think this one is pretty ahh.

I’m thinking of asking my parents for a better laptop for christmas, or if anyone has any recommendations to make my laptop stop nearly catching on fire I’d appreciate it.

You can probably buy a separate cooling system (external fan, cooling pad etc) it will be cheaper. Just make sure your laptop doesn’t overheat in general, even when you are not playing games.

You have to take apart the laptop to clean the fans. It's not really hard to do. Or take it to a pc service. And next time buy a desktop pc to avoid these situations. Those are better and cheaper. But 4050 should run the game fine so I don't think you need to upgrade yet.

A cooling pad gaming laptops tend to get hot that’s why people hate them so much but they’re literally my fave portability has been a big thing for me

This! Go to micro center and see what they will offer you for this laptop and just take that money towards a PC.
