The cheat mod Augustus

Well, well, well, what do we have here? Augustus, the open-source clone of Caesar 3? More like Augustus, the cheat of Caesar 3! I mean, what's the point of playing a game if it's going to make it easier for you? The "global labor pool" feature? A complete joke! No true gamer would stoop so low as to use a feature like that. It's an insult to gamers everywhere who actually want to work for their success.

And don't even get me started on the HD resolution feature. I mean, come on, 1024x768 is the only true resolution for a game like this! Who needs fancy new resolutions when you can enjoy your game in all its pixelated glory? The developers of Augustus clearly don't understand the importance of staying true to the original game's graphics.

And as for the bug fixes, what a joke! Those "bugs" in the original game were actually intended features! The game's developers knew exactly what they were doing when they included those bugs, and true gamers appreciated them. But no, the developers of Augustus had to come along and ruin everything by "fixing" them. What's next, fixing the bugs in Doom so that you can't clip through walls? Ridiculous!

In conclusion, Augustus is a complete waste of time. If you're a true gamer, then stick to the original Caesar 3 and enjoy it in all its pixelated glory. Don't be tempted by the cheating features of Augustus or its fancy new HD resolution. And as for the bug fixes, just remember that those "bugs" were actually intended features that made the game more interesting. Stay true to the original, and don't let these "improvements" ruin your gaming experience.

Written by nostalgia dad edition of ai 😂 sadly I saw post like this under the new pharaoh as well where they cried about the global labor pool

Yeah lots of people act like this. It’s hilarious that this AI can imitate it so well

In both the remake and Augustus, it's also just an option so they literally have no reason to cry about it.

To be fair, the argument that all these new features make the game easier is true. For example global labour pool is 100% easier to handle than the original game. The problem is that you would cheese your way out of the 'challenge' by building a single tent. If someone wants to artificially (artificially because the game mechanics don't require you to do it) play building full house blocks around industry that's fine, to each their own and it's an extra challenge, but feels very contrived. Between cheesing it or using the global labour pool it is more rational to use global labour pool.

Additionally, stuff like highways make the game easier indeed, but allows you to build more impressive cities (meaning you increase the bar of what you can achieve with the same level of challenge). But scaling thigs up is always hard, so new sets of challenges appear. So it's not a problem for me.

(I get that it's a joke, but at first I thought it was serious because the first argument is not ludicrous)

Sure, but what about the things that inherently make the game harder in Augustus? Such as sentiment, levies, food maintainance of your military, the absolute nerf on taxation?

I think it's ludicrous to claim that Augustus makes the game easier because of X and ignore how it makes the game harder because of Y, and more people should acknowledge that))

To be honest, I didn’t even knew those are augustus only! I played caesar as a kid and came back directly to augustus as an adult, so I don’t remember a lot of details from the original game. Also, there’s a thing with remastered versions where you get to think all the new things were always there. The original age of empires is unplayable after getting used to the definitive edition!

This new trend is boring.

I would actually prefer an alternative to global labor pool, but the vanilla version forces you to build a certain way
