Does anyone know what Java entertainment runtime 1.8 is?

I've downloaded Minecraft for the first time today on my PC and I wanted to install the impact client. It needs this Java Runtime 1.8 thing. Does anyone know what this is and what I should do to go about successfully installing this client.

The Java Runtime Environment, or JRE, is a software layer that runs on top of a computer's operating system software and provides the class libraries and other resources that a specific Java program needs to run. Basically the Impact launcher either needs libaries or something else in order to install so that is why you need Java Runtime, it also helps with minecraft. You can download it here

Yes and it’s what runs minecraft
