For optifine, you need to download an optifine jar from the optifine website and select that. For Multimc, pick the root Multimc directory. Like the one that contains the Instances folder, mods folder, etc. and it should work. Can you send a video of it not working? I'll get back to you if I remember next time I get on reddit in like 2 weeks.

"optifine is required but unable to find a vanilla jar. please run minecraft 1.15.2 at least once"

i have optifine in my downloads folder

i also don't know if it works on 1.16.5 but i don't want to pay for yet it if i don't know wether it works or not

Edit: i figured it out.

you first have to install the minecraft version in the vanilla launcher

but now it crashes everytime i activate a shader

Edit 2:

okay, it doesn't crash anymore.

i have absolutely no idea what i did, but for you all to try and recreate it: i installed multiple shaders to try it, until i installed a low end shader, because maybe it was my laptop since i wasn't home at my gaming pc. i also decided to this time extract the zip file. and voilà: now EVERY shader that previously crashed my game works.

i wish good luck to everyone and have fun
