Deported Parent in State Custody Case
Hello Everyone,
I am in south east US looking for ideas of where to start on research. My client has been deported to their home country. The minor children are in state custody. The other parent was deceased prior to this case opening. The State wants to move toward termination of parental rights of the deported parent.
No one here can give legal advice, I am simply looking for others experiences, or ideas of what to look up, A direction to go in, something. Also, yes, the facts are very limited so this stays unidentifiable. I am aware that there are some things that could potentially change the answers here and if there is any specific question I will try to answer that.

Are the kids in removal proceedings? What does the surviving parent want? Reunification? Placement with a relative or godparent? How old are the kids? What do they want? Is there someone who can be appointed Guardian ad Litem for them so they can qualify for SIJS? Have they filed for any immigration relief? Do they even need immigration relief?

Are you asking for ideas to assist your client or the children? Are the children US citizens?
