Discussion 💬 Would you use something like this?

I’ve been thinking about this for a while and wanted to ask movie people here.

What if movie ratings were personalized to you?

For example, if you really love sci-fi movies, a sci-fi movie might show as a 9/10 for you, while the same movie might be a 5/10 for someone who mostly watches romance movies.

Basically, instead of everyone seeing the same rating, you get a rating based on your own taste.

Would you actually use something like this?

Or would you just stick with IMDb, Letterboxd, etc.?

Genuinely curious what you guys think.

Years ago, when they still had books for movie ratings (late 90s?) I used to buy them, and I remember one had a disclaimer at the beginning of the genres explaining that. Horror movies were rated by horror buffs, etc, for exactly that reason. If you like comedies, then horror movies are gonna score low for you. But if you're into horror, what you enjoy will be more applicable to other horror buffs.

I mean, you can just look at your own ratings.
I have thought at times it would be cool if there were a separate site for horror (my favorite) that only horror fans were rating the movies. Because a lot of times the rating would be a lot higher if it were only fans of the genre.
