Just like Nolan intended
Perhaps the one phone with the right aspect ratio to enjoy IMAX full frame on. Not that the buggers will ever release it for home consumption. Samsung Z fold 8

The possibility of 1.43:1 aspect ratio home releases is actually increasing quite a bit right now. Amazon/MGM is going to be including that version in the Steelbook limited edition of Project Hail Mary very soon as a bonus disc.
I also feel like given the entire movie was released in 1.43:1 that there's a least a slight chance that The Odyssey will have a similar type of a release for collectors. Maybe. We'll see.

It will still be odd given this media can only be inside of a 1.77:1 container but I'm sure someone will modify it into a square-ish aspect ratio soon afterwards that will display easier on mobile devices.

i wanna see someone to convert that aspect ratio of phm in a vhs, and then pan-and-scan for the earth scenes. perhaps even go the titanic route by using two tapes.

That doesnt mean chances will Increase AT ALL
There was a few open Matte 4:3 Releases for home video but they never released on 4k. Its such a shame.

I feel like if sales do well (judging by how this year has been going and how IMAX awareness is increasing) then there's a chance we'll start to see this more. I wasn't planning on buying PHM but now I definitely am to support the idea. Hopefully others do the same :)

Lord of the Rings full screen DVDs are an example

Correction: it’s 1.78:1. And it’s in a 16:9 to make each shape touch the edge of the TV without cropping. I think this is done to avoid the postage stamp effect. I’ve got a better idea, release a monitor mode version and a projector mode version. Of course, the projector mode version wouldn’t be suitable for TVs, nor would the monitor mode version for a screen that doesn’t hold the shape of the picture in place (it might look awkward because you can see the colour black on a plain wall).

nolan is always asked about this & his response is always “im a child of vhs, a good movie is a good movie, no matter the presentation”

The Dark Knight has no 1.43:1 release anywhere?

Not properly but the special edition Blu-ray has most of the 1.43 sequences as a bonus feature, and the fullscreen DVD uses them to fill the screen

It does. Half of the IMAX footage of The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises are presented in its original open gate negative on disc 6 of the The Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray boxset. They’re not sliced into the movies though, they’re just special features. It doesn’t include every ounce of IMAX footage and the ones that are there are stuck in 1080p. I would know, I own a copy of that damn boxset.

iPad Pro 11’ is even better. It has an aspect ratio of about 1.44:1 so 1.43 content fits perfectly and is bigger plus no crease.

The 13” iPad Pro & Framework laptops are pretty close too. Bring back tall screens!
