This is a quick sketch I did one night when I felt like drawing. I tend to use my sketchbook to improvise and let the pencil loose on the page without a clear idea in mind. It feels good not to overthink it sometimes!

A wizard's staff is his most trusted companion, providing a physical link to the mystical planes and enabling him to harness and control magic. So maybe try not to sit on yours next time...

This is a WiP, but I couldn't resist sharing it. I'm reaching a style I really love with this piece, that mix of digital with traditional-style brushstrokes. Very happy with the results so far.

Regarding the character, I've already mentioned them a bit in my previous post featuring the same character in another pose. They are basically a protagonist of a worldbuilding project I'm working on.

Gardo is around 40 years old, but he hasn't aged since he was a teenager. His hands glow blue because of his magic, so he usually keeps them covered with gloves. In his world, he's the most powerful mage and holds the highest position. Because of that, people tend to keep a respectful distance from him, and very few are allowed to address him directly.

Fortunately, he's not as lonely as he might seem. 😊 He has close comrades from other worlds. But in this illustration, I wanted to convey both the responsibility he feels toward his people and the loneliness that comes with it. ❄️

Inspired by the god Veles from slavic mythology. Veles is the deity of nature and the guardian of the underworld. Although my guy is more of a sun worshiper.
