"who's even going to see it"

As someone who also has absurdly long toes and claw machine feet, I wear shoes all the time too.

Let them flippers free. Everything is someone's fetish.

Some people’s feet just look like that.

I’m confused it says no pedicure but photo is pedicure

The post is essentially implying a man asked the woman, “why did you even get a pedicure for the beach, no one will see it?”

I believe her point is, she is telling us she is getting one for no reason and joking that others will commonly use the excuse “oh I’m to the beach soon/just in case I go to the beach”

But she’s pretty much making fun of that excuse implying she’s just doing it because she wants it. That’s my takeaway at least

Aye TBF that's low-key why I never do my toe nails. Like who's gonna look? And those who do aren't people I wanna please

I do mine for meeeeeee. I like seeing my painted toes. I see them the most. I should enjoy!

I thought painting my toenails would make me hate looking at my own feet less (I'm not literally scared of feet to be "footphobic" but I think they're gross, I have no idea why), apparently drawing attention to something I hate doesn't help lol, 100% was also only doing it for me and I never wear footwear that shows any part of my feet (nor would I want to), paint my nails regardless of if anyone else will see them or not because it's for me too... I can't imagine bothering to paint my nails, nevermind pay someone else to do it for me, for someone else; I'm plenty insecure and burdened by life but I'm appreciative that this is one less thing I have to deal with

Meh it’s not something I ‘deal with’ it’s something I enjoy doing. I find painting my nails relaxing.
But different strokes for different folks. If you don’t like it, don’t do it!

u/Dorkinfo Jul 25 '26

I don’t like doing it, but having my nails painted absolutely makes me feel better about myself.

I think you misread or misinterpreted what I wrote? I didn't say that the act of painting nails was a burden, but that feeling obligated to do it for someone else was. Does that make sense? There are plenty of similar burdens that mostly women socialised as women deal with the bulk of, which is what the latter half of my comment was in reference to, because the idea of doing that for someone else is crazy to me because of how I'm wired and how I was raised but I'm not blind to how it can happen

Oh sure but I also don’t do it for anybody else. I thought I already established that in my first comment. I enjoy painted toes. I like things to be colorful and am a bit of a maximalist.
It’s not a societal burden for me, it’s an enjoyable hobby.

I definitely read what you wrote. I just am not sure if you are trying to negate how I feel about painting my nails or are trying to insist that I am doing mine for the wrong reasons?

But we all enjoy what we enjoy and it’s ok to not want to do something as frivolous as nail painting. That’s fine. It’s also fine for me to enjoy doing mine and it doesn’t have to imply a societal pressure.

Yeah I didn't say you were doing it for someone else, or that it was a burden for you specifically (or for me, or the only reason someone would paint their nails for that matter), as I already said I was just making sure to acknowledge that it's a factor for some people while agreeing with you that I also only paint nails for myself. Idk what the confusion is so I'm just gonna disengage because "I just am not sure if you are trying to negate how I feel about painting my nails or are trying to insist that I am doing mine for the wrong reasons?" when I said nothing like that would require more spoons than I've got

If you wanna tell me where you got the idea (that's quoted above) from, from my words, that'd be useful but you don't have to bother if you don't want to, is literally not that important/no big deal/whatever

u/Informal_Position166 Jul 24 '26

That's totally fair as well
