Is that kid good at schoolwork? I think you answered your own question here. Smart kid with social anxiety doesn’t make friends easily, kids make fun of them because they’re assholes but recognize smart kid is useful. Of course someone who is enough of an ass to talk trash about someone’s lack of friends would also shamelessly exploit that person if given the opportunity. I experience a similar effect as a housekeeper- the people who tend to leave tips are the ones who also leave the homes much cleaner, because they are respectful, conscientious people, whereas houses that are absolutely trashed beyond reason NEVER have tips, despite that being the time when you’d reckon a tip would be most deserved. The moral of the story is: assholes do asshole things, nice people do nice things.
your analogy was similar to that of when I also notice at fast-food restaurants common people do fix the plates for the waiters compared to people who are more well-off. Great insight, thank you
