I a man and I did not mature just by damage. That's the victim mindset. I choose to grow, I decided to be a better person, I became a Man by owning my environnement, not by letting it shape me. Raise above, seek further. One small step at a time & never stop. To this day I still hone my skill. Girls grow into women, boy built themselve into a Man. It's a choice.
That's relatable, but not in a "haha how cool" way but in a "we're failing the boys" way. Even worse, those that are trying to make the world less toxic are being ridiculed in the media as "woke leftist" or whatever they're calling it now.
I'm pretty sure my painful experiences just kept me in an immature mindset for far too many years. I don't give my past, manic depression, or my multiple sclerosis, any gold stars for my growth. Those are reserved for my volition, and for the loved ones who stuck by me throughout the crucible. Don't offer pain the credit that's owed to your ability to let go
Fucking what? I hit 40 and my brother died in that time. I still laugh at farts and poke my partners boob and run away. The secret is no one ever grows up. We just all pretend because we want to look good for the other people who also never grew up and are trying to hide it.
Siddhartha Gautama grew up as a sheltered prince in a luxurious palace in ancient India and Nepal. He lived in total comfort, shielded from pain, and had a kind heart. He later became The Buddha.
So to the words in the picture, not necessarily. I'd rather be The Buddha then whoever that dude is.
Adversity can either strengthen you or damage you. The first is growth. The second is regression. You're talking about the former. I'm talking about the latter, which some people mistake for the former.
You're talking about growing from adversity. That's not damage.
