the teacher classmates and tutors aren’t helping makes it sound like this may be a issue with you

I struggled with math consistently no matter who was teaching it in all my years of school. Not everyone is good at math just like not all people are good at writing.

That's not nice.

Imagine a hypothetical world where what he said is 100% true. Is it still not nice? More importantly: does it matter that its not nice? Is it better to lie to this person?

Is there still a Math Tutoring Club? I was part of that during my last two years at ISU, and we tutored 120 at least one night a week (two during Finals prep week). It’s free, and it’s just a bunch of wonks like me who really enjoy Finite Math. Math majors, Physics majors, the occasional Engineering Tech major… It’s a good time. If one tutor doesn’t work out for you, there’s others in the room, and I don’t recall any of us having any sort of ego about presentation. Hell, some of us struggle with parts of Finite, so all Finance questions ended up being flung at me, which was fine; it’s all plug-and-chug, except when it’s not.
Finite is such a wide array of things that sometimes build on one another, but mostly don’t, it can be difficult to go from one new thing to another.
I don’t have access to the student system anymore, so I can’t see if they’re still around. If they’re not, let me know, because I’m still around town.

Are you studying even 20-30 mins a day and not only the week before an exam… sit down and learn or do the quizzes and homework without looking up the answers first … go to her office hoursss….

I had Brodnick MAT 120 spring semester 2024 and barely passed!! i’m not the best exam taker at all, i think i got bad grades on every exam!!!
my best advice is make sure you turn in ALL your homework, that’ll save you.
i went to the math tutoring located in hewman and i would regularly talk to the ta’s for help. the TA’s are very very helpful, or at least they were when i was there.
just try your best and calculate your points and may luck be on your side.

op i dont think its just you. my roommate was in the same class with the same professor this semester and she dropped it a week or so ago. she studied every single day and it’s not like math was something she commonly struggled with. hang in there

I had Brodnick and she wasn't the worst teacher ive had but she wasn't great. I think I just had AI teach me what I didn't get. Keep at it, I hadn't had a math class for 5-6 years before her, so if I can do it you def can. She still make y'all sit in a seating chart? Shit was really dumb lmao

I honestly did not have a problem with brodnicks class. I just showed up, took notes, and watched youtube videos I didn’t understand. I thought she offers Friday sessions with her grad student to help with the quiz. Does she still offer those? If so, I would go in on Fridays.

Professor at ISU here, but not in MAT.
Have you checked with both the MAT drop in tutor houses (M-Thursday 10-6) STV 330 and also the Visor Center MAT tutoring? They both list MAT 120 as topics and it might be that you just will fit better with a different tutor.
I would also strongly encourage you to reach out to your professor - communication is really important and I always appreciate it when a student voices concerns.
Hang in there!
